Unable to Launch Launchbox

Hi all,

Randomly Launchbox just will not start up on my PC. When I click on the icon I get the spash screen with Pupulating Games and Loading Interface but then nothing happens. I have even tried reinstalling 12.7 and still it will not launch. I am running Windows 10 and nothing has changed on this machine either software or hardware. Big Box works perfectly fine though.

Any ideas?

Check that your antivirus hasnt removed the exe.

Hi,

No nothing has been removed and the Launchbox.exe is still in the root Launchbox folder.

That is not the actual exe, its just a shortcut to it. The actual exe is in the Launchbox/Core folder.

No that .exe is still in the core folder but it works fine if I launch from there. The exe in my root folder isnt a windows shortcut its an actual .exe file. Some reason that doesnt work but the one in the core folder does.

I know it says its a exe, but it really isnt, just look at the file size difference between the actual exe in the core folder, and the fake exe/shortcut in the root folder.

So it sounds like there is something wrong with the shortcut if the actual exe in the core folder works OK. Id try re-installing the latest version from your Launchbox/Updates folder directly over the top of your install to replace the Launchbox files.

Its weird I launched Launchbox using the  exe in the core folder and now the one in the root folder works. Something must've gone wrong during last update perhaps? Either way its working now. Thanks for the advice
