Unable to Go to Main Options menu in Bigbox

I used to be able to hit back or escape on my keyboard / controller when in Bigbox and go all the way back to the main options menu since I purchased big box years ago 
 

However last year I updated to the latest version and saw an option to hold back/escape for 2 seconds (I can’t remember the exact wording) to go to the Bigbox options menu and since then I have been unable to get to the options menu after launching Bigbox please help lol

Just do as it says. When at the root of whatever the top most view is (you'll know you're there because your back button no longer does anything) just press and hold the back button until the system menu appears.

Doesn’t work no matter how much I hold down the back controller button or escape on my keyboard

Close Big Box and make sure it isn't in Task Manager at all then do the following:

1) Navigate to \\LaunchBox\Data\BigBoxSettings.xml and open the file
2) In the file you should see a line that says "<RequireHoldToBackToSystem>false</RequireHoldToBackToSystem>" (without quotes), replace that with "<RequireHoldToBackToSystem>true</RequireHoldToBackToSystem>" (without quotes)
3) Save and close the file
4) Open Big Box, escape functionality should be restored

If that doesn't work you can simply delete the BigBoxSettings.xml file (or move it to desktop if you want to keep it) with Big Box closed, then reopen it and it will restore default settings for you.
