Clearing retroarch hotkey bindings

How the dickens do you clear RetroArch hotkey bindings?

I can't do it from within retroarch itself, I can only remap.

That's fine, I've remapped what I want.

But to clear the things I don't want mapped seems impossible

I manually removed them from the retroarch, cfg and that doesn't work (included in attachment), retroarch just reloads the missing binds from somewhere.

I thought maybe the retroarch.default.cfg so I made that the same at the retroarch.cfg I edited, that didn't help either.

Very frustrating.
