Mame Retroarch emulator setup issue

Hello Smart People!

I have had a great experience with Launchbox so far with the exception of my Mame collection.  Funny that the simplest one is the hardest for me to get working.  I did try to search for my specific issue but something like 459 pages came up so I figured I would try my luck and post here.  So my issue is I try to load my Rom set (Mame .250 merged) and then it does not work.  I am well aware I am doing something wrong but hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.  With all the other emulators and setups (Steam, PS1, PS2, Xbox360, etc), the instructions are very easy to set up.  With Mame however, I cannot get it to work.  When I load other systems that work under Retroarch, they work perfect.  Mame does not launch with Retroarch and when I try to make it launch with Retroarch as the emulator it is not successful.  I have tried to clear it all and start over about 7 times so I am trying not to get too frustrated.  I did read that I am supposed to get things working outside of Launchbox before posting, but in the Retroarch Launchbox setup guide it said one of the benefits of the new version was that Retroarch would set up Mame automatically.  I am clearly missing something.  I am happy to send any screenshots like it says in the instructions but I feel like I am missing something very basic.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide!

Did you try loading Mame games through RA on its own outside of LB ? If so do they work ?

If they do work check in your edit emulator window for RA in LB and check that you have the "extract roms" box checked. If it is checked go to the associated platforms window of the edit emulator window and look for the platform you are using Mame with and uncheck the extract roms box for that platform.
