LaunchBox/BigBox for Educational Use - and other questions

Hello!

I work for a public university under the department that supports Game Design and Development.  We have a program/course that allows ~30 students to work on a single game executable for approximately a year.  There is now a sizable collection of these .exe games and I have been asked to create a "mock" arcade-style cabinet to showcase these works.

To clarify, I am not looking to emulate any games: I need a front end that can be put on a public machine and "locked down".  Essentially an advertisement of student work - Earlier iterations of this project have an off-network machine with the .exe shortcuts in the Public Desktop folder; I'd really like to improve the user experience, and I am thinking BigBox might be my answer.

I am primarily concerned with licensing BigBox for educational use; I am curious if that is acceptable within the terms of the license.

Additionally, with a license to BigBox, am I able to set this cabinet up in a public space?

Lastly, I am curious to see if anyone has experience with the "Lock" feature ~ Can I open LB/BB on this public machine and trust that users won't break out of my "on the rails" experience?

Hoping this is the right place on the forum to post this, and I appreciate the help in advance

cheers,

-C

Regarding the license concern I'd ask that you reach out to support@unbrokensoftware.com and explain your use case and they can help facilitate that with you.

You should be able to lock down the machine to the point that leaving Big Box isn't possible (assuming you don't have a keyboard on the cab that the user can just alt-tab out)
