Any way to use the built in autohotkey tool for pc games?

I know when I am using emulators I am able to create custom hotkeys in the meta data menu, but for whatever reason the option disappears when using a game that runs from an exe. Is there a way to force launchbox to let me setup custom hotkeys for pc games. I'm trying to run a bunch of old games from before pc controllers were really a thing like prey and dark horizon, which on their own require tools like dgvoodoo just to get running.

If I can't use the launchbox hotkey setup to bind controls to a controller would steams controller compatibility options fix the problem, or am I stuck trying to struggle with a program like joy2key? I'm playing on a handheld gaming device and 'just' using mouse and keyboard isn't really an option for what I am trying to do.

I'm sure you don't want to go to the trouble to learn Rocketlauncher and integrate it with Launchbox just to run older PC games, or DOS games.  But for what it's worth, that's how I run all my older PC games that need a keymapper profile to be launched on a per-game basis.  It uses joy2key, but it does it all from within the program.

I was able to get the controls for Prey to work using steam controller config, though it has been fighting me. I guessing I'll need to create a steam shortcut to launch the game with launchbox now. Here is hoping everything else goes smoothly. I'll post back if I run into any small issues.

Was able to get most games working with steam except for the 2001 Alien vs Predator 2 game. It requires certain command lines to launch and the exe opens and closes a couple of times before the actual game starts. It also requires dgvoodoo to run on a modern system, is there something like dgvoodoo that'll launch when the game does and will emulate keyboard inputs with the controller?
