Closed ePSXe with the big red button - can't access save states now

I accidentally closed ePSXe with the big red close window window whilst playing MGS and now I can't access my save states. There's both save state and memory card data in the folders, but when I launch the game, I can't load my save state or load any save files from the game itsel. What can I do?

Probably not much you can do if the save state and save game files got corrupted.

Also, you shouldn't use save states and actual save game files together. Use one or the other, combining can cause corruption.
