New Launchbox Build on Fresh Windows 11 Desktop - Any Tips & Tricks

hey guys,

I have just bought a used Dell 3060 Desktop and an upgrade to my Cab, and it has come with a fresh install of Windows 11 Pro. Here is a list of the specs:

Intel i5-8500

8gb DDR4 RAM

256gb M.2

1tb SSD (from old desktop with ROMS etc on)

I have also dropped in a GTX1030 GPU from my old desktop too.

This is the first time I have used Windows 11, so was wondering if anyone has any tips and tricks to get it running as smoothly and speedily as possible. I have already disabled Windows Search Index, but anything else worth disabling? I have it logging in with a local account, so not Outlook account is attached to it.. Also nothing is really loading in the background, apart from Steam, as I play some SF on Steam..

I want to eventually have bigbox  load as the Windows Shell.

Thanks in advance.

With Windows 11 the two big OS features you can disable to increase performance on your system is Core Isolation Memory Integrity and Virtual Machine Platform.

Disabling core isolation DOES open you up to certain security attack vectors and can make your machine more vulnerable, please read the feature screen to see why and research it before deciding to shut it off.

To disable core isolation just type core isolation in the search bar, it'll appear in the results and then click it. On that page is an area called Memory Integrity. Turn if off.

To disable VMP do the following:
Type in Windows search "windows features" there should be a result that says "Turn Windows Features on or off" (or something similar). Click it and in the window that opens look for "Virtual Machine Platform" and shut it off.
