Can no longer launch LaunchBox after exiting an update installer

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I am having issues launching launchbox.

I have launchbox installed on an external drive. Up until now it worked fine for weeks. What happened was I did a quick launch from the search function to open launchbox, and an installer popped up, I thought I had mistakenly launched an old setup file versus the app itself, so I exited using the proper cancel button in the installer app.

It said "reversing changes" or something to that effect, and now when i go to open launchbox it doesnt work.

When I click it to open using a shortcut or going directly to the application folder and launching the .exe nothing happens. Nothing related shows in task manager either.

I have tried using one of backup zips the program creates in the backup folder but that didnt work either.

Is there a way I can run the launchbox updater again (without opening the program.. since im unable to open launchbox?) that might resolve the issue.

Either way its probably important to let the launchbox team know that cancelling the update using the the cancel button option it gives you in the installer seems to brick the app.

Thanks

In the /LaunchBox/Updates/ folder, execute the latest installer and install it over your existing build.  When selecting the folder to install it into, before clicking 'Install' (however it may be worded) be sure that the path shown doesn't add another layer of "LaunchBox" to it.

Bad:   D:\LaunchBox\LaunchBox\

Good  D:\LaunchBox\
