how to get gamepads to be associated with games

As title says when I first started launchbox with a nintendo game it automatically associated game with a gamepad, now its not associating any games that I have added.I figured out how to add games and emulators that was easy,but when I looked around others said to go to tools-options- controller automation ,but there is no controller automation in ver-13.15 that I can find.
