tkropp17
Longtime user, always had this issue but started to notice how smoother others have BB running. Attached is a video showing the stutter and delay in loading content, I'm at a loss on how to fix this. It's an 18TB drive with about 1.5TB free. Not a pre-made build. Tried Clearing Image Cache Allowing all images to reload in a system, exit system, enter back in (still slow loads) Tried minimal transition and smoothing settings Changed Windows Settings - Display - Graphics Settings - High Performance RTX 3070 for LB/BB specifically Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-9900K CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz Installed RAM 32.0 GB System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor BigBox Stutter.mp4
C-Beats
If you're talking about the delay between when you move to a new item, and when the details FOR that item are displayed that's an intended feature. Details aren't loading until you've been on an item for I believe 250ms. This is done so that you aren't beating the crap out of your computer resources while holding down an input button trying to load items for every item you pass through. That being said themes can choose NOT to use this logic and use a binding that DOES refresh instantly. We don't recommend it because of the mentioned performance issues, but it's an option that's available to be utilized (with extreme caution). tkropp17
It's less about the delay, that makes sense. The issue is the lack of smoothness and also loading cover art is delayed. I've seen plenty of builds that have these pauses without blank art and smoother transitioning.
C-Beats
Your original post says you CLEARED the image cache. Did you rebuild it afterwards? If not that load in delay is pretty standard. If the cache image isn't already built the app has to make one, save it, and then load an image in which of course takes more time and causes a delay. tkropp17
Thank you again for the fast response, these are helpful. I've let the cache rebuild, exited, restarted and still have the same image loading issue in the video. If there's something I'm doing wrong, I'd really like to fix it. Not sure if I need to re-install at this point.
C-Beats
I doubt a re-install would help. Can try the usual PC debug things like ensuring drivers are up-to-date. Make sure Big Box is actually using your dedicated GPU and not the integrated one on your CPU, etc.
ricktn1
If you're running a G-Sync display, Make a profile for BigBox in program settings via Nvidia Control Panel and set Monitor Technology to Fixed Refresh. Also, in BigBox, in the general settings, match the refresh to your TV/Monitor refresh. I moved LBBB over to my SSD and it's much snappier, along with smoother now! Edited August 3 by tkropp17
