ESC key exits game and shuts Launchbox down

Title says it all -- it doesn't matter which console I'm playing. Whenever I press ESC to exit a game, Launchbox goes back to the game selection screen momentarily before shutting down the whole app. I have to restart the program every time.

Any ideas?

First two things I'd check are your emulator's running script (Tools > Manage > Emulators. Select and Edit emulator, Running script tab in Edit Emulator window that opens). Make sure you don't have something in there pressing close more than it should. What app are you seeing this in? LaunchBox or Big Box?
