Showing the multiple version badge only if version installed

Is there a way to show the multiple version badge ONLY when I have multiple versions available? Right now, it shows the purple multi version icon for virtually all games. I would like it to show only when I truly have a choice to pick a different version. If that is not an option, can someone recommend some visual cue that lets me know I can choose from multiple versions of that game? Even if it means splitting it out the other versions somehow from the parent. This is for console games, NOT MAME. For example: I have both the US and Japanese versions of a Saturn game

Thanks

Hi @Sinan, hope you're well

The logic for the multiple apps badge to show is as follows:

  • The game entry must have AT LEAST 2 additional applications present (that are not documents)
  • Additional apps that are documents (i.e PDFs) will not count or show the badge, and will instead show up under the Additional Documents section
  • Games that only have ONE additional app present will not show the badge

Therefore, it depends entirely on what additional apps you have present for those games. If it's showing the badge for most of your games, that sounds like there are 2 or more additional apps present for those games. Depending on how you imported your games and where they came from, there may be some additional apps present there that you don't want.

Hopefully, that helps clarify, let me know how you get on or if you have any other questions

Thanks for the info @AstroBob. I hope you are doing great as well.

I am not sure where the other apps are coming from. I moved my roms to an external drive, so that may have screwed something up. Imay have to delete and reimport everything if I can't figure out a different way.

Thanks again for the help!

Edit: I checked out the additional apps tab and that is precisely what is going on. LB still remembers the previous rom location. Is there a way to wipe out the old path for all games/platform instead of doing it one at a time? It only shows the current directory in the path when I edit the platform.

Hi @Sinan thanks for the update. That makes sense, if you have auto-rom imports enabled, your ROMs to different locations it's probably tried to import them again, and because they are the same name its added them as additional apps.

The only way to do this would be to edit the data .XML files, located in LaunchBox > Data and then under each platform. If you inspect one of those files, you should be able to see the entires that reference the old path. You could do some sort of find + delete to make that process quicker. However, it is HIGHLY recommended to backup all your data files before attempting this, just incase something goes wrong.

Apologies there isn't a better workaround, but depending how many games this is affecting it might not be too bad. Let me know

Thanks again for the great advice. I just renamed the original directory (I want to keep it as a back up) and that seems to have resolved the issue after I had LB remove the no longer available roms. 😁

Whoops, yes you are absolutely right. I completely forgot that option was there, but I'm glad you found it since it's certainly the preferred way to do this than editing .XML files. Apologies for forgetting that, but glad you managed to find it and everything is fine and dandy now.

Cheers,
