vahacris Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 Hi guys, im trying to run amstrad gx4000 games using cap32 libretro core and cant solve this puzzle. first of all - i know i can run it thru mame core in retroarch or in mame, but im looking for cap32 solution as this core is on every device i use for emulation (android phone, android tv, ps vita, etc) and mame core (for sotware) or mame app is not there. so i tinker on the platforms on my pc and then configure it on other systems. So i search the web and find out that i need to use .cpr format and change the core option to 6128+ but: 1. in newest cap32 core there is only "6128+ experimental" and when i choose this setting game do not run - the screen shows standard basic screen like for amstrad cpc 2. in older cap32 core I can set system to 6128+, basic v4 starts, but there is only a menu with f1 - basic and f2 - burning rubber to choose. i i do not select anything burning rubber game stars. Burning Rubber is playable so the core works with amstrad gx4000 but how to play other games. i even see a video tutorial (for android) where after chenge to 6128+ game stars without asic screen. i try with the same retroarch and core version but still failed. anyone find the sultion for this? vahacris Posted December 28, 2024 Author Posted December 28, 2024 Solution for future generations: 1. use cpr file not .bin file (I use TOSEC set) 2. set in core options: a. model - 6128+ (experimental) b. autorun - ON c. advanced > color depth - 24bit 3. most important -> U need to zip the cpr file and use zipped rom 4. that's all folks, now ypu can play amstrad gx4000 roms in retroarch using cap32 core 2 Quote

But to add to this, I found the caprice v4.2.0 the most stable. All versions later I also encountered issues. Probably due to my cpr files not being zipped. With the v4.2.0, which I am still running and have locked in retroarch (so it does not get overwritten by a core update)...I do not need my cpr files to be zipped. And the games just launch perfectly. I will however test by upgrading my older core and zipping my roms and compare both version of the caprice32 core Quote
