jj7897 Posted January 5 Posted January 5 I'm having an issue where I'm trying to download the metadata and media for a bunch of roms (Tools>Download>Update Metadata and Media). The process appears to be working as normal for a while with no problem but suddenly stops downloading. It'll do anywhere between 500 and 1500 images and then just freezes midway through. I'm not downloading any items from EmuMovies as I have read this can cause some issues with it freezing. I'm able to close out of the Launchbox application and reload and restart the downloading again and it appears to continue where it left off. The Processor and Ram on the computer appear to be fine and nothing else appears to be slow or frozen. Thank you for any help you can provide. Quote
KMHamel Posted January 8 Posted January 8 (edited) I am having the same issue, except I have to restart the computer. The computer completely freezes. Edit: Just finished adding a cpu temperature monitor program and watched the temps of the cores climb when doing the downloading. Three of the four cores went above 80C as soon as one hit 88C the computer froze. I guess my first gen i7 just can't take the heat. Time to upgrade the motherboard and chip. Investing in liquid cooling for my dinosaur just isn't worth it. Might get one for the new system. Edited January 9 by KMHamel Quote
cathoderaydude Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Thirding this - I'm having similar issues with grabbing metadata, and it doesn't seem to matter how many titles I select at once. I did initially select my entire PS2 collection and fire off a metadata update, and that hung while downloading file 94 out of 10,000+, but then I restarted Launchbox, selected a single game and tried it again. It downloaded the metadata, the images appeared on the game, but it's been sitting at "File 14 of 14" in the download progress bar ever since. To be clear, "hang" just means the progress bar stops progressing, the rest of the app still seems to work. However, if I try to click the red X on the download bar, it does nothing for a few seconds, then produces a spinning mouse cursor, almost as if the app's message pump isn't processing. Weird business - never had anything like this before in LB. Running latest, 13.18, also tried 13.19 with the same behavior. Quote
cathoderaydude Posted January 25 Posted January 25 For what it's worth, I went in and renamed data\ImageQueue.xml, then attempted a download, and it worked. Put ImageQueue back... still worked. Started a download for my whole library... it's 600 images in and still going. So perhaps this is completely irrelevant and something else was going on entirely, but I thought I'd share anyway. Quote
Bigjosher84 Posted January 26 Posted January 26 In response, yes, I also have tried to rename ImageQueue.xml and still nothing. I just notice this today, I thought it was weird that my games weren't having any box art with them. I tried just downloading my PSX metadata, the metadata worked and saved fine and updated, but as soon as the art downloaded, it was at the point of scraping and processing the last game, and the just came to a stand still no saving no nothing. If anyone has a rock-solid solution, please help thank you. God Bless and Be Safe Quote
firedoggod Posted April 4 Posted April 4 im having this issue too, brand new install of windows. clean install of LB importing first set of games (mame) seems to go fine up to emumovies, gets a decent way into it then hangs. cpu usage is high from LB, errors over and over in the logs i have seen a couple others posting similar issues. i thought it was something i did so i reinstalled windows and lb a second time just for the same behavior. is this possibly an issue caused by some kind of throttling in emumovies? been using lb for about 10 years cant say i have seen it before (maybe) 2025-04-03 06:40:38 PM FIRST CHANCE EXCEPTION: Unable to read data from the transport connection: The I/O operation has been aborted because of either a thread exit or an application request.. at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.AwaitableSocketAsyncEventArgs.ThrowException(SocketError error, CancellationToken cancellationToken) at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.AwaitableSocketAsyncEventArgs.System.Threading.Tasks.Sources.IValueTaskSource<System.Int32>.GetResult(Int16 token) at System.Net.Security.SslStream.EnsureFullTlsFrameAsync[TIOAdapter](CancellationToken cancellationToken, Int32 estimatedSize) at System.Runtime.CompilerServices.PoolingAsyncValueTaskMethodBuilder`1.StateMachineBox`1.System.Threading.Tasks.Sources.IValueTaskSource<TResult>.GetResult(Int16 token) at System.Net.Security.SslStream.ReadAsyncInternal[TIOAdapter](Memory`1 buffer, CancellationToken cancellationToken) at System.Runtime.ExceptionServices.ExceptionDispatchInfo.Throw() 2025-04-03 06:40:38 PM FIRST CHANCE CONTINUED INNER EXCEPTION: The I/O operation has been aborted because of either a thread exit or an application request. firedoggod Posted April 9 Posted April 9 as i continue to have issues with this. it seems like there is a point where traffic is coming through EM where it just stops, im getting the feeling that even though i have a lifetime support status over there that its hanging anyways. support requests on their end are getting no response. any one else aware of any limitations like this? thanks Quote

I do know we've been getting a lot of reports of their API having issues over the last few weeks so they may be making changes over there and it causing some potential connectivity/stability issues.
