Hello, friends!

My problem is that Screenshot (gameplay) images are taking priority over background images in Launchbox (latest build - Windows, Licensed). Been doing this since the latest update.  And yes, I have checked options to make sure the Background Image Priorities are set up correctly.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer insight!

Hi @Mr. Shizzy,

Thanks for reporting this! Could I ask for a bit more information to help us nail this down? In particular:
    •    Could you share a screenshot of your image priority settings?
    •    Can you confirm exactly where in the app you’re seeing the images displayed incorrectly (i.e, in the game details pane, in Big Box, etc.)?
    •    What theme are you using for LaunchBox and Big Box?

Please let me know, and we’ll do our best to get this sorted for you.

Hi @Mr. Shizzy,

After some internal investigation, we’ve identified the cause of the issue. I’m assuming you’re referring to the logo and image displayed in the game details pane on the right-hand side of LaunchBox.

The image priority displayed in this pane is actually hard-coded to provide the cleanest images out-of-the-box, and to prioritize the following, in order:

  • Storefront Screenshots
  • Background (according to your image priorities)
  • Gameplay Screenshot

It seems that in recent versions, the priorities of gameplay - screenshot and background images were inadvertently switched, which is why you’re seeing this change. We’ve corrected this internally, so you can expect it to behave as it used to in our next beta release.

I’ll let you know as soon as that goes live. Thanks for your patience while we worked through this!

Cheers,

Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you, here, I just noticed this.

But yes, that was exactly the problem I was encountering, and i am thrilled to hear this has been resolved! Many thanks to the Launchbox Team!

Hello,

Just to let you know, this issue has now been fixed and is available in the current 13.19 beta release:

You can download the latest beta or wait until 13.19 when it will be available to everyone.

Thanks for bearing with us while we got this sorted.

Cheers,

Thank you very much! BG images are now correctly taking precedent over gameplay screenshots.  However, a small bug remains:  Steam Screenshot is still taking precedent over fan-art background images.

And I have double checked my launchbox settings.  Steam Screenshot isn't even checked.

Hi there,

Apologies for the delayed follow-up here. This is in fact by design, there is a hard-coded list of image priorities which are as follows:

- Steam Screenshot
- Epic Games Screenshot
- GOG Screenshot
- Amazon Screenshot
- Origin Screenshot
- Background (group priority)
- Screenshot - Gameplay

The reason storefront screenshots take priorities is that backgrounds from storefronts are notoriously bad for including logos in them, which creates conflicts where we overlay our own clear logo ontop of it.

That said, I can totally see the request where it would ideally give the user the choice to re-arrange the priorities for this section of the app. We've had someone request something similar which you can upvote here:
