Hello, I am having an issue that is probably an easy fix, but I am just not figuring it out.

I have previously downloaded and have been using Mame .262 without issue for a while now. I just decided to get the games that require CHD to work. Let's use NFL Blitz for example.

I have the Blitz rom in Mame.262>roms.   [Mame.262>roms>blitz.zip]

Downloaded the CHD for Blitz.

Created a folder in Mame.262>roms named "blitz."    [Mame.262>roms>blitz>blitz.chd]

The game works great directly through Mame.

When I try to play through BigBox, it crashes prior to the game loading up.

Thanks for any help!

Since you have your ROMs and CHDs located in the /roms/ folder under your MAME installation:

In LaunchBox, Edit your MAME emulator.  In the Default Command-line Parameters does it have -rompath %romlocation%?  If so, remove it.

Thank you for the rapid response!

I'm not the most tech savvy, where would I find the Default Command-line Parameters? Mame.ini?

If it is the Mame.ini, the file shows:

Core Search Path Options

rompath                 roms

No

"In LaunchBox, Edit your MAME emulator. "

aka:

  • Start LaunchBox
  • Click Tools < Manage < Emulators
  • In the list of emulators you have installed in LaunchBox, select MAME (or whatever you have it named) and click Edit
  • This will bring up the Edit Emulator window
  • About halfway down, it will show you the Default Command-line Parameters used to when launching that emulator.
