tbeski21 Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Launchbox did a software update on my Windows based video game and now BigBox throws and error and it won't boot up properly. The error is below. Can I revert to the previous version or is there a fix for this issue? Microsoft states... It looks like you're encountering an issue with BinaryFormatter being removed from .NET. This change was made due to security vulnerabilities associated with BinaryFormatter. Starting with .NET 9, the implementation of BinaryFormatter has been removed, and attempting to use it will result in a NotSupportedException. To resolve this issue, you'll need to migrate away from BinaryFormatter. Microsoft recommends using JsonSerializer or XmlSerializer as alternatives. This is the error message... (Inner Exception) BinaryFormatter serialization and deserialization have been removed. See https://aka.ms/binaryformatter for more information. AstroBob Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Hi there, thanks for the report. The issue appears to be caused by the OmegaSettingsMenu plugin. With the update to .NET 9.0, some third-party plugins needed to be updated to remain compatible. However, this is at the discretion of the plugin developer. Can you try removing the plugin from your LaunchBox\Plugins directory and see if that resolves the error? If the issue disappears, it may be worth reaching out to the plugin developer via their support page to let them know that the plugin needs an update to work with LaunchBox 13.19 and .NET 9.0. Let us know if you need further assistance! Quote
