After upgrading from 13.19 to 13.20 LaunchBox won’t launch pcsx2. For a second the emulator starts and then just stops. PCSX2 can load the games fine on its own , just not in LaunchBox. I've been through most forum posts and just can't figure it out, it's driving me crazy.

I've just tried reinstalling the emulator manually, and I get this error. I then input -fullscreen -nogui into the command line and back to square one. 😒

So it sounds like LB is starting PCSX2 fine, it;s likely a configuration issue then.

This error sure seems related to an issue with your network share.

Can you copy a CHD to your local HD/SSD and try launching from within LB to that file? (To narrow things down, we have too many variables here that could cause issues.)

Are you launching PCSX2 from File Explorer or using the Open PCSX2 option from within LB?

Hi buddy thanks for your reply.

I'm sure my network share is ok , as RetroArch and MAME can load my other roms just fine from my NAS. Also PCSX2 can load the games from the NAS and play them all fine. Its definitely something in LaunchBox I think.

Ill try what you suggest and see if LaunchBox will load a chd from my desktop when I'm home later on.

This is a shot in the dark, but does enabling CDVD precaching in PCSX2 setting make a difference?

I tested this with a single ps2 chd and this method works, so thanks for that. Not an ideal solution because you have a few seconds to wait while the game loads , but at least its playable.

EDIT.   After testing the above method I went ahead and scraped my whole ps2 library , and it no longer works....

We need to separate things so we can 100% determine whether LB really is directly involved.

Can you use a PowerShell or Command prompt and start pcsx2.exe using the same launch parameters?

FYI: I don't use those launch parameters

-fullscreen -nogui

Although those work still if I try them.

I just have

-batch

So I went ahead and changed some of my PCSX2 chds to launch from a network share and it works fine from LB.

The one difference is I see, your file location is using Windows UNC \\servername\...\game.chdnetwork share URL, while I have my network share mapped to a drive letter. (R:\...\game.chd)

You got me thinking about my network and folder names and the fact I got the one chd to work. I changed the playstation rom folder name on the NAS to something different and it worked 🙂
