zombiesruuun Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Hi, I've been using Bigbox for years and have suddenly got a strange problem with it, or maybe two! They do seem related! When I hit my usual search button the search box takes up the whole screen instead of a small box, and is unresponsive until I back out of it. It only happens on certain themes - "CriticalZoneV2 - BlueBox" for one. Similarly, when a mp3 file autoplays as a game is highlighted, the little box that usually comes up in the bottom right corner is now showing in fullscreen until it fades out. Again, this also only happens on certain themes, however not usually those that are affected by the first problem! "CriticalZoneV2 - Default" has it, for instance. Not sure how long these problems have been around as my usual themes aren't affected. I'm using a desktop Nvidia 3060 ti GPU running through a soundbar into a TV. Pics are shown below. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Quote
zombiesruuun Posted April 19 Author Posted April 19 Nevermind, I've found some quick and dirty fixes for both problems. Will go through them incase it helps someone in future. With the problem of the search box being full-screen - I simply found a theme with a functioning search box and copied the KeyboardView.xaml (in "Views") to the affected theme (Critical Zone - BlueBox) and it went back to normal size and worked. Maybe the original xaml was corrupted or something - I didn't look further into it. With the music dialog box problem - I noticed the affected theme (Critical Zone - Default) had both a MusicNotificationView.xaml and a ErrorPopupView.xaml in its "Views" folder. As an experiment I moved the MusicNotificationView.xaml out of the folder, ran BigBox and it worked. Think the ErrorPopupView.xaml is handling the music dialog box behavior now instead, but the fonts and borders etc look the same as before (with my failing eyesight) so I'll leave it at that. Cheers. What happens is, when a theme makes a call to a specific View (i.e. the Music Notification popup) and that view doesn't exist, Big Box will look for it in the Default themes' folder. (it's like magic ) I suspect if, instead of replacing the KeyboardView.xaml file, if you simply removed it from the /Critical Zone - BlueBox/Views/ folder, it would work [as well]. Maybe. However, replacing it with one that's known to work is probably the safest bet. Well done on using your resources at hand! Quote

Thanks Joe, I didn't like to overwrite part of the theme designers' hard work but it had to be done! Ah I see, the default theme is the backup then. Thanks for the info. That is clever indeed! On that knowledge, I did the same with the MusicNotificationView.xaml and copied it from the Default theme over to the affected themes, and it indeed still worked. As you say, better to be safe and replace rather than remove. There were quite a few affected themes, I believe they were some of the older ones but am not sure.
