jardine Posted Friday at 08:45 AM Posted Friday at 08:45 AM Couple noob questions please. 1) How do I get the bezel to match the game I'm playing. Currently shows random arcade artwork 2) When I launch a game, how do I then exit that game to get back to the main menu of BB. I know escape does it on the keyboard but how do I map it to one of my buttons and 3) How can I find my "Favorites" section? I'm starting to add games to favorites but don't know how to navigate to find this. Quote

Currently shows random arcade artwork Are you talking for the Arcade platform? or any platform in general? If [just] Arcade, are you [properly] using stand-alone MAME as your emulator? Or RetroArch? Are the bezels truly random? Or is it showing a generic bezel (i.e. the game doesn't have its own bezel, so it uses the 'backup') 4 hours ago, jardine said: 2) When I launch a game, how do I then exit that game to get back to the main menu of BB. I know escape does it on the keyboard but how do I map it to one of my buttons When you say "buttons", I presume buttons on a controller. System Menu < Options < Controller Mappings If you mean buttons on a cab, if your encoder is set to Xinput, go to the above. If it's set to Keyboard mode, go to System Menu < Options < Keyboard Mappings In Big Box, map it to Close the Active Window. NOT Exit. (That's for exiting Big Box) (Note: LaunchBox and Big Box have separate controller/keyboard mappings. That is, they need to be mapped separately in each app.) 4 hours ago, jardine said: 3) How can I find my "Favorites" section? Hopefully someone else can chime in on this. 1 Quote
jardine Posted Sunday at 11:02 PM Author Posted Sunday at 11:02 PM Cheers for the response. Fixed one thank you, the exit button. Was looking at the command and the actual command, the description fell of the page so I couldn't read it entirely. For the bezels, I am referring to the arcade section of Bigbox. When I launch into a game I want the bezel to represent that game, rather than a random one with it currently does. Quote

As for my 2nd question, what emulator are you using for this platform? (can't help if we don't know what emulator you're using for this platform) And back to my 3rd question, Are the bezels truly random? Or is it showing a generic bezel (i.e. the game doesn't have its own bezel, so it uses the 'backup') Quote
jardine Posted yesterday at 05:16 AM Author Posted yesterday at 05:16 AM Apologies I left some info out for you. MAME emulator and the bezels look generic for what I assume should have bezels...like Galaga, Wonder Boy, Raiden etc. I've attached the example it currently uses. Quote

So that's a good start. Go to where you have MAME installed (on your computer) and look in the /artwork/ subfolder. How many folders are in there? (a couple thousand, maybe?) Is there one named "galaga"? "wboy"? "raiden"? Those should/would be the ones for the 3 examples you gave. When you installed the bezels, did you have LaunchBox install them when importing the ROMs? Or did you use The Bezel Projects' app to install them? Quote
jardine Posted 16 hours ago Author Posted 16 hours ago Had a look. There are no folders per say. In mame/artwork it just opens to show all the artwork. HOWEVER, it looks like just the title screens. There doesn't seem to be any bezel artwork for the games. As for the installation, I didn't do it. I got someone to install for me so I can't answer that sorry. I can ask the guy who did it if it would help? Quote

I wonder if 'someone' only put in generic bezels. Which is what your earlier screenshot shows. Like a file (or folder) name horizont.png and one named vertical.png. And then a file named default.lay. But then again, you said it'll show a random bezel, indicating there are several in there. i.e. It's not the same one every time. So, kind of confusing what exactly 'someone' did. 13 hours ago, jardine said: As for the installation, I didn't do it. I got someone to install for me so I can't answer that sorry. I can ask the guy who did it if it would help? Ideally, that's what you should do. Ask the guy who did it for you, "why isn't this showing game specific bezels?" And tell him to "Fix it properly." But you'd be better off learning how to install them yourself and forget about trying to fix what 'someone' did. Open LaunchBox Go to your Arcade platform Click [once] on a game Press Ctrl+A to select all games in that platform Go to Tools < Download < Update Metadata and Media for Selected Games... Follow through the prompts assuming you already images (Advertisement Fyler, Clear Logo, etc.) At Would you like to download Images, select Check NONE At Download Bezels from The Bezel Project? Check the box The default option is Theme Bezels (Fallback to System Bezels) When in doubt always use the default or recommended Finish and let it do its thing Quote
