trueanimus Posted yesterday at 03:46 AM Posted yesterday at 03:46 AM (edited) I am building a home cab and i have 2 joystick encoders set up for 2 sets of controls. Tonight i was trying to set up MAME and every time i would exit the game, mame would not save the controller settings. Now with that said, i did a little investigation on my own and it seems that Launchbox is messing with the Mame controller settings (or not letting Mame save the settings). I know this because i can launch Mame outside of launchbox and change settings and it saves them perfectly. I cant seem to find a way to tell Launchbox to not Override the Mame controller settings when launching from inside Launchbox.. Anyone have a simple solution?? I do NOT want to have to go through all 6000+ games in mame outside of launchbox and set the control settings jut to get them to work correctly in Launchbox. ... Yeah i know i could do Global outside of mame, but small changes to the files for each game is sometimes necessary when playing. Edited yesterday at 03:48 AM by trueanimus spelling Quote
JoeViking245 Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago If you turn off the high score leaderboard integration feature, will it then save the controller configuration? This is, of course, how it should be done. And fortunately, it is fairly rare the a single game needs tweaking. But yeah, not unheard of. Quote
trueanimus Posted 14 hours ago Author Posted 14 hours ago (edited) nope... tried with and without xpadder running from launchbox, still will not save settings. Wipes them as soon as you close and reload. Forgot to also mention that i noticed that when i change a setting in mame, the new setting is greyed out. Is that normal or is that because it will not save? Havent messed with mame in a while and not sure but i think when i used to make changes, they were in white lettering... now they are greyed. trueanimus Posted 14 hours ago Author Posted 14 hours ago (edited) also tried removing the -keyboardprovider dinput from the command line, still wipes the settings changes as soon as you close and reload. Tried disabling all controllers in launchbox as well (use controller and use all attached controllers and did not work either) Edited 14 hours ago by trueanimus Quote

But what I was asking about was the high score leaderboard integration feature in LaunchBox itself. 1 hour ago, trueanimus said: Forgot to also mention that i noticed that when i change a setting in mame, the new setting is greyed out. I'm not sure about all settings, but I know if your change a controller setting from within MAME, it will show a different color between its' defaults and ones you change. It's just a visual indicator for you. 1 hour ago, trueanimus said: also tried removing the -keyboardprovider dinput from the command line, still wipes the settings changes as soon as you close and reload. Tried disabling all controllers in launchbox as well (use controller and use all attached controllers and did not work either) It has nothing to do with the controllers you have set/attached/use in LaunchBox or otherwise. Also, it's not that the control setting changes you make in-game are being wiped. It's that they're not being saved [to /cfg/romName.cfg] in the 1st place. Any chance you're running LaunchBox as Admin? Quote
trueanimus Posted 12 hours ago Author Posted 12 hours ago UPDATE... i gave up trying to figure it out and did a complete reinstall of mame because i found some settings in the cntrl folder that i didnt recognize. Now with Xpadder (because of the encoder board) everything seems to be saving correctly and working properly. ill let you know if anything else screws up.. BTW... Here are some shots of the unit im building. I was going to build a full cabinet, but i wanted something modular (to save space) and since i built this out of junk incase something blows lol (i raid the local electronics dump since i know the guy that works there personally) Everything you see here except the control panel box and the encoder boards for it was free lol.. I have a 4k mounted up top for the main monitor, second monitor is also 4k and on a lift out for pinball (as you can see) when not in use, it folds down flush with the wall. Speakers are a TV sound bar with a nice subwoofer, old 10 in Motorola tablet with spacedesk running for third monitor. Table for the control panel is an old pet grooming table lolz... runnning an i7-7700 wih 32 g ram and 24TB of storage 😃 thank you so much for the help... or the attempts at help. 1 Quote
