r27blades Posted June 10 Posted June 10 (edited) Hi All, Appreciate you stopping by and reading. Placing this in the Noob section because while it may be a technical Q I realize my noobness to this whole thing may result in me asking a question with an obvious answer. Thanks for being kind to me in advance lol. Recently purchased a Unico Nova Blast candy cab, and originally was planning on setting it up with a MiSTercade. A few friends got me into the idea of purchasing some arcade PCBs while I was waiting for the cab to ship, and next thing you know, I had 8. Slowly converted the cab over to a more traditional Jamma setup, but was looking into doing a digital marquee. A buddy of mine pointed me to displays and suggested looking into BigBox before he realized I was no longer using a MiSTer. I guess my question is if anyone is using BigBox for marquees, and if so, do they have any resources they would be willing to share? My thinking is I could get a pie and use that, but I wasn't sure if that made sense. Appreciate your time, and thanks again! Best, r27 Edited June 10 by r27blades Typo Quote
C-Beats Posted June 10 Posted June 10 Big Box has native support to display images on a 2nd screen which is typically used for marquees. We have marquee images in our database as well as on our website for download that can be used. Big Box will also create a dynamic marquee with existing artwork when you don't have marquee artwork for a game by placing the logo over the background. Quote

Out of curiosity could I set it up to work as just a marquee? I know I am not using Launch Box for emulations so would there be any concern there? Last Q but without tying to emulation can I setup a button of control for switching marquees? I am leveraging a Jamma switcher to change through games housed in the cab. Thanks for your help! Quote
r27blades Posted June 13 Author Posted June 13 Hey All, Quick update and Q I found out my switcher board has an extra aux out 4 pin header. Sends a binary signal out intended for expansion boards. After speaking with the builder he suggested I could use that signal with level setting to go into a GPIO of a Pi… my thinking is I could send board/slot selection data into a Pi and with Python code to identify the game based off of the binary signal the Pi receives. That’s kind of where my brainstorming stops. Has anyone played with LaunchBox/BigBox in that way? Quote
