legolas119 Posted Monday at 10:03 PM Posted Monday at 10:03 PM hi i don' currently have Retroarch on LB as i don't like that launcher. But there is a specific game, for sega genesis, that only works with a specific Retroarch core. So i need to add it to LB. Well, how i can add this frontend (it isn't a regular emulator) to LB in order to add this specific game on my Genesis games collection? I mean: i donìt want to consider Retroarch like a different system. I want to add it as an emulator and then, i want to add that specific game to my Genesis collection, choosing Retroarch as emulator during the game import process. How i can do that? thank you! Quote
launchretrogirl2562 Posted Monday at 11:02 PM Posted Monday at 11:02 PM (edited) just add retroarch to your list of emulators. in lb u can have several emulators for a single platform. u can set one as the default. and u can also edit individual games to use a different emulator. As u can see, for testing i linked 2 of my emulators to the sega genesis platform. and changed one game to use retroarch_cli instead of the regular retroarch. legolas119 Posted Tuesday at 07:25 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 07:25 PM hi, yes yes i know, i already have a lot of emulators and a lot of platform have more than one emulator. But i didn't know how to add Retroarch to LB: can i add it as a normal Emulator and then add the specific game to the Sega Genesis library, choosing Retroarch as emulator (for that game), is that correct? thanks Quote
launchretrogirl2562 Posted Tuesday at 08:16 PM Posted Tuesday at 08:16 PM (edited) YES. Ofcourse first make sure to have Retroarch installed on your PC somewhere. https://www.retroarch.com/?page=platforms (ofcourse make sure to download the sega genesis core from within Retroarch, or download the cores from the retroarch website https://buildbot.libretro.com/stable/1.21.0/windows/x86_64/RetroArch_cores.7z) After Retroarch is installed just go to Tools -> Manage -> Emulators Click on ADD. Lets say Retroarch is installed on D:\Retroarch Then in the add emulator screen -> the application path just point it to your D:\Retroarch\retroarch.exe And in the 'associated platforms' just choose 'Sega Genesis' as associated platform Name (this has to be the name you gave the platform where your Sega Genesis games now are, so just scroll to it) Then choose the core 'genesis_plus_gx_libreto' Commandline : -fullscreen Leave 'Default Emulator' unchecked. Make sure all required BIOS files are in the D:\Retroarch\system folder Check here for the required bios files : https://docs.libretro.com/library/genesis_plus_gx/ And from there on you are good to go. It should then launch in Retroarch when for instance u edited 'The Adams Family' game to use Retroarch. Edited Tuesday at 08:29 PM by launchretrogirl2562 Quote

legolas119 Posted Thursday at 09:06 PM Author Posted Thursday at 09:06 PM well, i configured in this way: and: and in the Associated Platform, i removed from every emulator the check as Default Emulator as i don't want any Retroarch core as default. I'm only interested to a custom core for Genesis GX used to play a specific Genesis game. Is it also necessary to remeove ALL the emulator rows, keeping valid the Genesis one only? With these settings, the game works fine when i dougle click on its cover on LB: automatically it open Retroarch and that game. THanks 1 Quote
launchretrogirl2562 Posted Thursday at 09:23 PM Posted Thursday at 09:23 PM (edited) No, it isn't really necessary to remove all other rows. If u don't use them they won't really bother you. If Genesis however is the only platform you EVER plan to use RetroArch with...then by all means remove all the other ones. Cause if you leave them, they will be shown in all those other platforms you have configured in your screenshot above when you right click a game...in the 'Launch With...' popup window. (They will however never use retroarch to start the game, cause they aren't the default emulator for those platforms. ) Nice u got it sorted out. Glad to have been of help☺️ Edited Thursday at 09:27 PM by launchretrogirl2562 Quote
