I changed the format of the Wii U games from folder structure to .wua format, so I scanned for removed roms, which removed all games from the Wii U platform in Launchbox. So I reimported it and enabled the auto playlists for it like before. Only this time the auto playlist for Genre was put under Root and I can't move it to the Wii U platform. I right clicked the playlist, edit and Unchecked Root, and checked Wii U (Platform) and clicked OK. Nothing changed and when I went back into edit playlist, Root was again checked and Wii U (Platform) was not. Why is it not letting me move it?

Edit: The All Games and Favorites playlists are under the Wii U platform like they are supposed to be.

Edit: I think its considering this auto playlist as a platform category like Console and Handheld but why and how do I fix it? Thanks.

I can't reproduce the issue you're seeing.  I assume you've tried this, but will share anyway:

  • Go into Platform Category view
  • Right-click your Wii U Genres playlist and select Delete
    • Yes to confirm removal
  • Right-click your Nintendo Wii U platform and select Auto-Generate Child Playlists
  • Uncheck everything except Genres
  • Click OK

I tried several times to get it to NOT work, but it always just worked.  Putting the playlist under the Nintendo Wii U Platform.

You said it's treating it like a Platform Category. Just to double-check (because weird things can happen), when you right-click Edit, the top-left of the window does say "Edit Playlist"?

When you do make changes in the Parents tab, (though with the above steps, shouldn't have to) when you're done checking/un-checking boxes (sorry, have to ask, nothing personal), you are clicking OK when you're done?  vs. the "x" in the upper-right corner of the window?

Last ditch effort when nothing else seems to be working, delete the playlist. Exit LaunchBox.  (wait a few seconds) Restart LaunchBox.  Is the playlist still gone?  If yes, that's good.  If not, that's another issue.

Hi, thank you for replying. I have not tried all the things you mentioned yet, however I did try something else and noticed something strange. I deleted all playlists and started over and added only the genre playlist- both alone and under the subcategory. When alone (not in subcategory) it went under the Wii U platform like it should. But when I set it to go in a subcategory, it went in the root. All the other platforms have it go under the genre subcategory but under the respective platform.

Edit: Also, when editing the 'playlist' in the upper left corner it says "Edit Platform Category." But all the other platforms' genre subcategory says "Edit Platform Category" too, even though they are located under the platform.
Yes, I am sure that I click OK. Totally understandable question, no offence taken.
