Rexxar Posted Sunday at 08:09 PM Posted Sunday at 08:09 PM Hello everyone, while playing around with chatgpt, I've come up with a build for what I want to do, which is to move Bigbox fluidly with all the images, covers, videos, etc., and be able to emulate well up to PS3 / Switch. Although I think I'm going a bit overboard, I'm not sure. Let me know if it's not necessary or if something can be changed. CPU: Intel Core i5-14400F Motherboard: ASUS PRIME B760M-A D4-CSM RAM : Kingston FURY Beast 16 GB DDR4-3200 CL16 CPU Cooler: Thermalright Assassin X 120R GPU: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3060 WINDFORCE OC 12GB GDDR6 Rev 2 SSD: Crucial P5 Plus 1 TB M.2 PCIe 4.0 HDD: Seagate BarraCuda 6TB Power: Corsair RM650e 650W 80 Plus Gold Quote

Regarding Bigbox navigation, I have a more powerful computer (RTX 3070 ti, i7 13700k, 64gb RAM and everything stored on NVME gen 4 drives), but navigation in Bigbox is still rather choppy even on default theme, there's been improvements recently but still needs a bit more optimisation I think. I tested other front-ends like ES-DE or Retrobat which do run buttersmooth, however their features are not as advance as LB/BB. Quote
Rexxar Posted Monday at 10:45 AM Author Posted Monday at 10:45 AM (edited) No, I'm not going to touch 4K. I like to stay as faithful as possible to the resolution of the original console, maybe just a little bit to improve the image, but not much more. 1080p is the maximum I'm going to scale to. I forgot to mention it before, but that's already on Switch. "Navigation in Bigbox is still rather choppy even on default theme" I had read something like that somewhere, but it was a while ago. I thought they had fixed it, but from what you're saying, it's still the same. That's why I had doubts about whether I could downgrade any of the parts, since I wasn't going to use 4K, but of course on Switch I'm running at 1080p. Edited Monday at 11:10 AM by Rexxar Quote

And yes, it will be a bit more expensive but later on you will not be kicking yourself for buying older gen and regretting doing so. U have to remember, it will be the basis for everything you build upon. Will your setup play everything? sure it does! But if you care about snappiness, performance in LB and BB...then gen5 is the only way to go. Edited Monday at 12:49 PM by launchretrogirl2562 Quote
