Sega Naomi questions

Hey everyone, 

 

I tried to get Sega Naomi working with the flycast core of retroarch. When I try to add the bios files in launchbox it says the are all green but giving me a red explatopm point. Not sure why. I added all the bios files from where they are in my mame folder. Doesnt make any sense. 

 

Also because of that I've been using Demul. Problem with that is. If I want to play games in English instead of Japanese. Im not sure how to make it boot from the English bios in bigbox.

Isn't the red exclamation mark simply saying, "One of the following items are required"?  And then, as you stated, all of the boxes below it have a green dot next to them.

Also, if you mouse over the red exclamation mark, it'll tell you "The emulator has indicated this group is required,"   Mouse over the green dot next to the BIOS and it'll tell you "File found!".

Red exclamation mark aside, if you go to launch one of the games, does it launch?

Regarding Demul, there aren't any command-line parameters available to change the set BIOS.  That's needs to be done from within the Demul UI.

Regarding Demul, there aren't any command-line parameters available to change the set BIOS.  That's needs to be done from within the Demul UI.

Ok here's a breakdown. I just added sega naomi back in clean to launchbox. Here's some screen shots so you can see what happened. The 1st file is giving the trouble which is the namoi.zip and thanks for letting me know about demul. 

 

Well  I cant upload the screenshot so ill just tell you. The 1st one. The namoi.zip is not working. Tells me its green ligjt but has a red explatopn point as well. I re added the games back in and getting this error when I try to re add the zip...

 

I get this error message. Failed to copy this deponacry file. Tells me its being used by another process. Even tried rebooting launchbox. 

 

UPDATE, i moved it out of the DC folder in retroarch. Still not working but error message went away. Now its just a green light with the red explatopn point  saying the file is needed but its already added. 

 

 

 

I did get sega saturn and dreamcast working today on retroarch with the bios files.

It doesn't say it's "needed".  It says it's "required".  (semantics matter)  And the green dot says, "File found".  But you indicate it still doesn't launch, despite the apparent requirements are met.

Does it work when launched directly from Demul?

If so, do you have the proper command-line parameters in the Associated Platforms section for that platform?

 

To insert a screen shot, take the screenshot with your favorite capture program. (copy the relevant area)  Then here, put the cursor where you want to place it, and press Ctrl+V.

Sorry about that. 

 

It seems to have stoped working in dsmul but I can boot from it without launch box. Im sure I can trace back my sepsto get it to work with demul again Just not really sure if I have all the bios files in the dc folder in retroarch. It just tells me the bios files are incorrect with every game. The Namoi logo comes up then says, Error 01. This system is not assiaciable by main board.

I suggest working on just one or the other.  Or at least [please] separate your thoughts and paragraphs.

Demul:  I think you're saying... when you launch a game directly from the Demul UI (File - Run Naomi/Naomi2 -- select a game and press OK) it does work.  But in LaunchBox, if you select a game and press Play, it does not.  Is that correct?  Does Demul open at all?  Or do you get a black screen, then it does back to LaunchBox?

If it runs in Demul but not in LaunchBox, edit your Demul emulator (in LaunchBox) and share 2 screenshots.  One of the main details section. And one of the Associated Platforms section.

 

RetroArch:  "It just tells me the bios files are incorrect with every game".  Are you saying it's now showing a red dot next to the required files?  Can you share a screenshot of that message?

Yes, I can play my games with demul outside of launchbox. When I hit play in launchbix. Ddmul pops up but the gams doesn't load.

 

I dont have a capture program. All lights are green for the bios files for the sega naomi but still has that exlmatkpn point on the top one. Sega Naomi 2 as well when I addsd the 1 bios file. Green but point as well. 

 

I read somewhere on another forum that  the error means its looking for the chd file. That I should have it in a corsbinding file with the same name as the game zip. I have not tried that as of yet.

That most likely means you don't have the correct command-line parameters for the Associated Platform or one (or more) of the required checkboxes in the details section is checked/un-checked.

When you have the Edit Emulator window open to the main details section, press Alt+PrintScreen.  Reply to this message, put the cursor where you want the picture and press Ctrl+V.  Do the same for the Associated Platforms section.

Im legally blind and im on my phoneon the forum but for some reason. Everytime I try and reset my password I cant get on the forum on my pc where I have lalinchbox. It keeps telling me wrong password. Then after 2 or 3 ateemps it locks me out for 59 mins so thats why I haven't been able to take sceeen shots. This morning. 

 

Mine looked like that before. Ill try and set it again.

The 2 that are commonly missed [for Demul] are check Remove Space... and un-check Extract ROMs.

I have to sdtup from the beginning. Ddmul stopped working as well. Ill watch the launchbox video and pull the files out again from the mame folder with the script again. Must of mssed something up when trying to get regroarch to work. I got it working in Demul last time that way. Know how to get house of the dead 2 working thanks to you. So let me set it up again. 

 

Maybe ill just forget retroarch because no matter what I do. It doesn't work.

 

I emailed the Launchbox team about not being able to login in to the site but I can with my phone. Been going on for months on my pc.

Thanks Joe, again for all your help. Your a really great helper. I readded Demul into launchbox set the same settings again and now its working like it was. Migjt be better now since Im getting the metadata off Mame so im getting more metadata and it seems to be better. 

 

Ill just stick with Demul since it seems to work and not giving me a headach lol.
