Black Screen Video Playback

I'm having an issue where any video playback is only a black screen with no sound. This happens in both LaunchBox and BigBox. The .mp4 file is recognized by LaunchBox. I've tried reinstalling the latest version and also tried swapping to FFMPEG with no luck. Any ideas?

Well I was able to fix the issue with FFMPEG but now I'm getting hit with the expected performance issues.

Sounds like you have some missing codecs you need to install to WMP. The LB installer should ask if you want to install K-Lite. Saying yes to that should grab em for you

I thought this might be the case. The installer doesn't ask if I want to instal K-Lite, so I installed it separately with no luck. Perhaps I can uninstall K-Lite then try the LB installer again.

Ok I found a solution.

I made a quick batch file with Notepad:

ren *.mp4 *.video

I saved it in the videos folder as ExtensionChange.bat, double-clicked to run, and viola! The video extension bypasses some HVEC features of K-Lite. Rather than buy the $1 pack they offer, you can just change the extension of the videos.
