Games show up in two places.

I just reinstalled Launchbox, but now my Dreamcast and SNES games show up twice. They both show up as expected in the "Consoles" category but then also again in a separate category. The games in question link back to the exact same files and are set to be the same platform.

Right-click the platform and select Edit.  Go to the Parents tab and uncheck Root (leaving just the Consoles (Category) box checked). Click OK to save and close.

Thanks!

Any ideas of why these two platforms also showed up in Root? Never seen that behavior before

No.  I can only speculate.

Maybe the method in which the platform was created?

  • Tools - Manage Platforms - Add new...
  • Tools - Import ROMs [into platform that didn't exist yet]
  • Add ROMs to /LaunchBox/Games/[platform_name]/ - auto-import ROMs/create platform
  • Drag/Drop ROMs onto LaunchBox - Import ROMs [into platform that didn't exist yet]
  • (...just to name a few possibilities)

Or, mark it up to a glitch in the matrix, the fix was easy, and you won't have to look back at those 2 platforms' hierarchy again. :D

That said, if you do happen to come across this again, and can deduce a method ('the method') in which this occurs [and how/when it doesn't?], please do let us know.
