AdamL Posted Wednesday at 06:12 PM Posted Wednesday at 06:12 PM I am trying to import Dragon's Lair (and the other Daphne games) into Launchbox, and it just doesn't want to work. Specifically, it comes to the end and shows that there are no files to import. I have a "Daphne" emulator configured, though it actually uses Hyperlaunch for launching the games. (I tried to get pure DaphneLauncher to work, but I couldn't get it to download whatever it was that it was trying to download. Getting Hyperlaunch to work is my preferred method here, as once I get it working it can be used for any of the other emulators that I have already working in Hyperspin.) Note that the problem here is that Launchbox won't load the roms. I can get Launchbox to work here using .bat files, but I don't want to have to write a new bat file for every rom. Here is what I am getting: Note that I tried the exact same thing with Badlands, and it loaded -- but in the process it replaced a different arcade game on my system called Badlands. My guess is that Launchbox is checking a database or spreadsheet somewhere and if it doesn't find the rom listed, it doesn't import it. Thanks for your help! Quote

Tell LaunchBox that the Daphne emulator is using MAME ROMs and see if that works to import it. a.k.a. Check the box. Quote
JoeViking245 Posted Wednesday at 07:16 PM Posted Wednesday at 07:16 PM Actually that probably won't work. Would it cause major heartache to rename the ROM to dlair.zip? (Since "lair" doesn't exist in MAME) Worse case, you can press Ctrl+N and add the game manually. Quote
AdamL Posted Wednesday at 07:21 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 07:21 PM Is there a way to just add lair.zip to the list of roms that Launchbox will take? Thanks! Quote

If I can get this working with the Emulator, I can import lots of games easily. For the manual process, I think I would have to do it separately for every Rom. Quote

Is it a MAME ROM? When I looked, "lair" doesn't exist. But "dlair" does. (Maybe 'lair' is an old ROM name???) Quote

(Maybe 'lair' is an old ROM name???) It’s not a MAME rom. I’m trying to do this with Daphne roms for now, with the ability to do it with any roms in the future. How does LaunchBox know whether or not the rom name is part of the set? (I’m looking for a way to fool LaunchBox into thinking that it’s a valid rom name so it will import it under Arcade. As-is, I have to import all of the Daphne games as MS-DOS games.) Quote

MAME (and a couple others) aside, ROMs are typically named after the games Title. For MAME (Arcade), LaunchBox will parse the xml result from mame.exe -listsml to "convert" the ROM name to the games' Title. I didn't realize Daphne had its own set of ROMs. I've only ever used Hypseus Singe for LD games, which uses MAME ROMs (and can be scraped as Arcade). You can watch a tutorial here. Provided Daphne has an accessible means of "translating" ROM name to game Titles (e.g. the -listxml parameter or a definitive source), you might want to put in a feature request (top of this page under Help & Support) to add it as a Scrape-As value.
