Hello. I don't know if this belongs in this forum section exactly, but I wasn't sure where else to put it.

I imported my Steam library into Launchbox, but have found a large number of games that have not imported, and I believe that's because they are free games. It's my understanding that Steam changed how free games work in their API, and now it doesn't matter if my profile is public or if I have a game installed or not, if it's free, Launchbox doesn't see it when scraping my library.

I still haven't tested what happens if I play one of these games for a bit before importing, but in any case I had a similar problem with Playnite. I switched back to Launchbox from Playnite because I found Launchbox had the nested organization structure I desire, but with Playnite too I encountered this issue with free games, and the workaround there was Playnite allowed the option to log into my Steam account and authorize access rather than using the API key. No such option here in Launchbox that I can see.

Any ideas? I know I could manually enter each game, but to be frank, that's a slog because Launchbox also doesn't really make adding individual games from Steam very intuitive either. Not to keep bringing up Playnite, but they have a plugin where I can just put a Steam game ID in and it will add it to the library and pull the appropriate metadata. Here in Launchbox it looks like I have to create the game entry first before I can start doing anything with it, and even then I have to add the launch URL manually.

This isn't about that though, just looking for advice on how to address the free games issue because that's a pretty big problem. I appreciate any information, thanks.

I ran into this issue recently - you need to install and play the game at least once for LB to pick it up in the import. It may take a bit of time for it show up in the import, as well, but it should show up.

Thanks, I was afraid of that. That's frankly untenable. I have a lot of free games and to go through and install them all and play them once is an undertaking in and of itself. That is a shame.
