Kiosk Mode? Immutable?

It's been awhile since I setup my system and im thinking about building this on a cabinet to be used by kids/friends/guests.  Is there a way to lock down the settings behind a pin or password?  In the past my kids love to mash keys and things get out of order fairly quick. 

I know it can't be said for various emulators but has anyone here made a setup that was fairly static and couldn't be accidentally modified?  If you have the time, I would love to hear what you've done and how you got there.

Big Box has a lock mode where several menu options can be disabled/hidden. That combined with the fact you can't alter metadata in Big Box and it should deliver on what you're wanting.
