Shinlocke Posted Sunday at 03:24 AM Posted Sunday at 03:24 AM I have a Retro Arcade Cabinet build with a Win11 PC running Lauchbox. Emulators are working, RetroArch and Mame. I am now trying to sort out my controllers. I have 2 Joysticks basically 8 button for the arcade, 2 XBox controllers and 2 Lightguns. I have not added a trackball yet but probably will in the future. In Mame I've mostly figured out and gotten the Joysticks to work with the Joystick games, lightguns to work with the Lightgun games. I am having an issue with the RetroArch games with the Lightgun. The Joysticks work fine, but I can't seem to figure out how to map the Lightguns. I tried setting Input 3 and 4 for Lightgun. I can see the mouse cusor move with the gun, some of the buttons work but the trigger and buttons on the gun don't seem map. When its in Lightgun, I don't seem to see the controller options to map Trigger etc like I do when its set to Joystick. Quote

When mapping the trigger and buttons (aka left/middle/right clicks) try pointing the gun at the screen when pressing them. Specific lightgun & emulator software pending, if you're not aiming the screen, the gun thinks you are shooting offscreen and uses different modes. Depending on what you selected in the lightguns' software settings. Quote
Shinlocke Posted Sunday at 04:15 PM Author Posted Sunday at 04:15 PM (edited) It works as a Mouse/Keyboard when set in Mouse mode the cursor on the screen moves but doesn't seem to register in RetroArch. I finally got it to at least register the buttons and triggers on the gun in RetroArch and was able to map controls. It wasn't Controller Input I needed to go into, but RetroPad Binds. That at least let me set it to the Lightgun, registers Trigger button, Reload button, set the Start and Select. However, when in the game, it still doesn't respond. It seems my Joystick is buttons are still mapped or take priority. I did try duplicating my RetroArch directory, creating a new Emulator called RetroArch Lightgun, so I could set the primary controller as the default, but so far, I'm still having an issue. Shinlocke Posted Sunday at 04:39 PM Author Posted Sunday at 04:39 PM I am being told that RetroArch is not really good for Lightgun Emulation, at least for the RS3 Reaper. I am going to try to use RetroBat instead for those games and see if that resolves the issue. Quote

The emulators I use with my Gun4IR are Demul, Flycast, Model2 (emulator.exe) and [standalone] MAME. I don't use TeknoParrot, but do have a couple games using JConfig. Then alongside these, I use DemulShooter (where applicable), LUA scripts for MAME and QMamehook. Quote
