I didn't see a general discussion board so just throwing this wherever.

Perhaps technilogically impossible.... but I want a server instance (per se) of a front-end/back-end platform, that I can point a client instance installed on a HTPC back to it and i can game in literally any room of my house...all I would need is to configure the client and hook up a physical USB device or controller and i get the same experience as having a full front end experience installed locally...... I DON'T WANT A CLOUD SERVICE, I want a self hosted service (using the term loosely here) that houses all my configurations and assets and that stuff travels over the network and feeds the client instance to game.......so a gaming console without the console.

Ok, end rant, feel free to discuss...perhaps someone out there has a vision in the technical details of it, as far as I'm aware nothing like that really exists...there are video transcoding services that can encode and decode for video streaming...but for gaming....ehhhhh...and then there's the latency challenge, which is bad enough locally....hence why i say maybe technologically impossible, but it's what i want to see happen.

I was really hyped by the Kyber projects from the dudes from the VLC team, with on paper a network latency less than 1 frame.

But no news in one year, so i assume the project is dead for now.

In my home i just use really long optical fiber hdmi cable so i can manage just fine without any latency. But yeah, at some point i need to take a second look into stuff like moonshine/sunshine/parsec, if i could make a right clic on launchbox on a game, select a client and have the game run on streaming until the game close, it could be nice.
