KingPizza Posted yesterday at 02:07 AM Posted yesterday at 02:07 AM I finally found the perfect controller for my emulation PC: the 8BitDo Pro 2. In SDL (Switch) mode, it works flawlessly for games that use Gyro controls like the Wii and Wii U, and I really wanted a controller with removable batteries. The issue I'm now facing is Bigbox (seemingly) does not recognize controllers that are in SDL mode. If I switch the controller to any other mode (XInput, DInput, etc) then it works again in BigBox, but the Gyro controls stop working. I've tried navigating BigBox using XInput, selecting a game, and then switching to SDL while the game loads, but it doesn't work, the emulator launches before the controller fully switches over and isn't detected. It's entirely possible I'm missing something here, so feel free to give me any corrections or recommendations. If this ends up being an issue without a resolution, I'm probably going to switch to another frontend. Quote
KingPizza Posted 22 hours ago Author Posted 22 hours ago I'm at the end of my ability to search this issue, so I've been exploring other frontend options while I wait for replies. First I tried EmulationStation, which is a very nice, clean frontend, but it doesn't have an auto-uncompress function, which is a must have for me since my Roms take up just under 8TB's compressed. I'm now currently working with RetroBat, which so far is exactly what I was looking for. Auto Uncompress, SDL controller support, very quick load times. I am a lifetime supporter of LaunchBox, and I want nothing more than to switch back to it, so if anyone has any suggestions, please reply. Quote

EmulationStation, RetroBat, Recalbox, even Steam, and pretty much all other emulator/game frontends work natively with SDL controllers. This should also be a reminder that trusting AI for the correct answer is dangerous. If you're not asking the question correctly then you could be led to the wrong answer, but even if you ask the question correctly the AI could hallucinate and give a wrong response.
