About This File

I just spent about two weeks adding my old DOS games to my BigBox build, including creating individual dosbox.conf files for each game, keybinding changes for modern gamepad support, and Roland MT-32 emulation for all my favorites (Sierra adventure games represent!) and I figured I'd make a special startup video that focuses on DOS games. Enjoy!

Runtime: 30 seconds
Resolution: 1920x1080
FPS: 30
Filesize: 19mb
Music: Extreme - Play with Me

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to watch The Goonies again...

I'm way into getting my own BigBox setup perfected right now. What do you use to make these? All your intro's are great quality wise with the transitions and ending logo's. Want to take a shot at making something myself but not sure what to use.

Thanks!

I'm afraid I may have an unfair advantage — I'm a professional graphic designer using Adobe After Effects. I typically get my gameplay videos from emumovies, but I made my own for these DOS games. Then I simply make a "slideshow" of the gameplay videos, and make a separate logo animation. Finally, I combine the slideshow and logo animation and render out the final video.

The secret, however, is that I have a source for "template" After Effect projects. I'll open up a slideshow template of my choice, drop in my assets (gameplay videos, logo files), tweak the project to my liking, add in some extras of my own, and add an audio track of my choice; I'll do the same for the logo animations. This workflow allows me to make these kinds of videos in about thirty minutes (not including render time, which can take up to an hour or more, depending on the complexity of the animation).

Yeah that's likely more then I'm willing to do ?. Im using your Arcade #2 intro right now and I just swapped out the music. I was gonna try and make something similar with a more agnostic logo at the end. Maybe just "Arcade" or something since my build is strictly MAME and arcade games.

Oh well. Great job and all your intro's regardless!

Let me see if I can make a version with a MAME logo instead of the BigBox logo today. Shouldn't take too long...

That would be amazing! Arcade Version B with a MAME logo ?. I'm a sucker for that 80's style ending logo.

I'll be keeping a lookout for anything you post here
