About This File

Namco System22 has been done separately to this release.

The above images are only a sample of the whole set.

Does anyone want the platform xml file with everything done to date already added? I have been thinking about providing 'master build' with the xml and every cfg file and image done so far, keeping it up to date as I work my may through.

I freaking love Namco. Not the most amount of hits compared to say Konami, but when Namco hit they hit hard. 190ish games playable in MAME with most running great. Some of the most solid hardware to date IMO. A lot generational hardware is interchangeable which made setting controls much easier. I was able to enjoy playing my way through this one. There are a bunch of hidden gems that were locked to Japan, but do not have any language barrier. Plenty of standouts like Gamshara, an excellent gallery shooter.

As usual all analog controls are set correctly, or not at all if needed. All characters unlocked for Soul Blade, SoulCalibur and all the Tekken games. Everything working correctly.

In a nutshell, I'm tooth picking my way through MAME platform by platform, and pre configuring the controls for all arcade games that are designated as working.

You know the pain of weird awkward auto control mapping and fumbling around trying to figure what is going on. I have done that for you!
These remaps have been done exclusively for controllers. No keyboard inputs at all and all non essential inputs completely removed. Only what is necessary has been mapped.
Also, I have provided button layout images so you know exactly what the buttons are for every game!

I haven't just set whatever, every control has been tested, scrutinised and re-tested before actually making a definitive decision. I believe I have everything mapped to be as intuitive as possible.
Menu control in arcade games can be unintuitive when using a controller. These remaps have been made to make menu-ing intuitive and easy.
NOTE: If the left stick doesn't work in menus, the D-Pad will.

The per game .cfg remap files are idiot proof. Every input is accounted for and set, so your main .cfg wont auto assign any inputs.

Everything has been done on a 1G1R basis with parents taking priority.
However, as stated above this was for some games, not appropriate. Multiple versions have been configured for choice for these titles.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Download Remap files and place these in the cfg folder of MAME.
Download NVRAM files and place in nvram folder of MAME.
Download Button Layout Images so you know what the controls are.
PLAY!!!

Below is a table of everything that has been done game by game. I have noted everything of importance for the end user experience.

Hidden Gem. If you like WarioWare or Bishi Bashi you'll love this.

Language Info:
-The first game can be switched between Jap and Eng. This sequel does have the language option in the test menu but no way to access it. Some games have a code/button combo that needs to be entered to change the language. I wonder if this game has one? It has only recently been found so not much info out there.

Controls:
-As you can imagine, a tricky one to figure out.

-This was the most comfortable for driving and shooting for player 1.
-2nd Player can use the mouse or a controller to shoot. Left stick is crosshairs as normal.
-For fun, I have also set the 1st player lightgun to the 1st mouse as well as the controller. You can use 3 players like this, one person is the driver and the other 2 are just shooting.

Return of Ishtar, The
roishtar
Multiplayer Info:
-An odd game. There are 2 characters on screen but playable with 1 player. Your 2nd character is a knight who is immortal (kinda) and auto attacks, which helps with having to control 2 characters independently.
-However, the original game was kinda designed to be played as a 2 player game. Like a "let little brother play as the 2nd character cus he can't die and auto attacks" kinda thing.
-So, the 2nd character has been mapped to the right stick of the 1st controller & the left stick of the 2nd controller, to allow for 2 players. There are no buttons for the 2nd character.

Does anyone want the platform xml file with everything done to date already added? I have been thinking about providing 'master build' with the xml and every cfg file and image done so far, keeping it up to date as I work my may through.
