Fuzzy Media Name Cleanup 1.0.1

A plugin to help restore missing media files when updating to LaunchBox 13.14+. 

 

LaunchBox versions 13.14 and higher use a stricter naming convention for media files than previous versions. As a result you might find that you have many missing media files after updating. If you are in that situation, you can do the following:

  1. First make a backup copy of your Images and Videos folders just to be safe.
  2. Temporarily revert to LaunchBox version 13.12 by closing LaunchBox/BigBox and running LaunchBox/Updates/LaunchBox-13.12-Setup.exe
  3. Start LaunchBox and open the plugin (Tools->"Fixup Fuzzy Media Names" to run it for all games in a platform or if you want to run it for an individual game then right-click the game and select "Fixup Fuzzy Media Names").
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to start the fixup process (you can choose between rom name format or game title format).
  5. Revert back to LaunchBox version 13.14 (or higher) by closing LaunchBox/BigBox and running LaunchBox/Updates/LaunchBox-13.14-Setup.exe
  6. LaunchBox versions 13.14 and higher should now recognize the media. The list of media files that had to be renamed can be found in LaunchBox/Logs/FuzzyNamingFixupLog.txt

 

Can't promise this will fix every case but it should fix most cases of missing media caused by the 13.14 update.

 

Installation:

  • Copy FuzzyWuzzyNamingFixup.dll to your LaunchBox/Plugins folder.

Last version I used this on it messed up all my media as it seems to be looking at the PS3 folder name rather than the actual game name.

Works perfectly on literally everything else, just not PS3

You must be referring to a different plugin. I just released this one recently and there have not been multiple versions.

Sorry I was using RenameMediaToRomNames.dll (Looks identical to yours)

Don't have 13.12 so will just stick with this.

You can delete my comments as they are probably not correct 👍
