  1. Thanks! You're the best. That did it! Now I just have some control panel configuration and a power switch to go and I'll have successfully upgraded to a much nicer MAME setup than my 2000's era XP machine that died. Thanks a lot for the help!
  2. Alright...I've been fiddling with it some more and have almost exactly what I'm trying to do. Got the XAML figured out, got the Playlist issue...well worked around probably from what's ideal. Now I can't seem to get it to allow me to change the "Clear Logo" for Favorites. It seems there's a default favorites image being pulled from somewhere. If I add my logo for my "Favorites" playlist and delete the default one using Launchbox's UI it doesn't seem to save it...if I go to re-edit the playlist the old image pops up every time. Is there a way to modify the XML directly to get it to persist my local PNG?
  3. Thanks, I'll let you know. I'll try tackling that myself first. I just wasn't sure if a "published" theme was any different than the raw files. The bit that leaves me scratching my head a bit more recently is the playlists. Is it possible that I just copy my 2 playlists in the "Arcade" platform, remove all the platforms and then just have the 2 playlists? I feel like there's a simpler way that's eluding me. I'm ideally looking for a UI that allows someone to toggle between a favorites list and everything. Alternatively maybe just the single playlist if I can find a way to toggle favorites on/off with a single button press which I believe is the original intent. I'd prefer the dual playlist approach though as unusual as that request may seem.
  4. Oh...just realized I probably should have specified I was referring to BigBox and not LaunchBox...mods feel free to move to a more appropriate location if needed.
  5. Ok...I'm having quite the time trying to configure Launchbox for my WG D9200. I think I finally found some decent themes for it, but I'm VERY limited due to having a resolution slightly under 800x600 to work within and I was hoping you guys could give some pointers. Basically I'm a launchbox noob. My desire is to boot straight to launchbox (solved), and then have 2 playlists to choose from (I only have the "Arcade platform"): All and Favorites. I know there's a favorite toggle, but I haven't found an intuitive way to tie it in thus the two separate playlists. Additionally the themes that utilize a list view are nice, but the issue I'm having is the white description text is often overlay-ed on top of artwork that is bright and makes the facts and description a bit unreadable. From what I understand themes are XAML? Is there a way I can put a darkening layer between the two to help the text pop out better? I haven't done much research into themes yet.
  6. Thanks - it seems to be pulling down now. Are there any rules/guidelines to follow when it comes to compatible naming conventions?
  7. Cool, I'll whip up something crude to scrape that out and try again. Thanks!
  8. So, I've recently begun trying to setup an ambitious LaunchBox/BigBox setup and I'm finding myself tripping right out of the gate. I'm testing things out currently with Sega 32X first due to the size of the library being relatively small and easy for me to redo things if I screw up without taking a long time to re-import everything. I've got it setup so I import all of my roms, and LaunchBox correctly finds all of the games, but it won't retrieve any metadata or images. If I go to audit things, none of my imported games seem to resolve to id's in the LaunchBox database. The metadata imports don't tell me much other than everything was successful (I'm assuming because nothing happened due to lacking the ids), but...I'm not sure as my Logs folder doesn't seem to have anything that could give me a hint. My ROM names themselves I would not think follow such an unusual format that they're unable to be resolved, but I'm not sure how I can fix this. For the 32X it's luckily trivial as it has about as many games for it as it does bits (Ha!) - but for some of the larger systems I am a bit worried about importing them if I'm going to run into this issue for each platform. Attached is an example of some of the filenames that were imported of which, none seem to have matched. The file names aren't of particular importance to me, so if I need to trim characters out or something I can probably make a small script to do that if needed, but I wanted to get thoughts here first Thanks!
  9. Ah well, I'll hope for that day. In the meantime I hopefully won't really need it as I get more acquainted with Big Box. I mean ultimately my whole goal is to not spend a bunch of time in menus. Thanks for the replies alnyden and faeran
  10. So, I'm pretty new to BigBox, so maybe I just need to tweak a setting in BigBox, but I just pulled down your CoverBox 32X theme to try it out and I love it. I am having a strange issue where I'll go through the game list and when I select one, I get a list of options like "Play", "Add to favorites", "Mark as Broken" etc. but as I'm navigating that list, the instruction manual and cart swoop back in and take away my visibility for the options. Has anyone else noticed this? Or is there at least a way I can change the length of time before that happens? Otherwise, loving the theme! Looking forward to installing many more of them.
  11. Cool - thanks. That's exactly what I was looking to do! I'll give it a shot on a few small systems locally and then once I'm satisfied start the migration.
  12. So - I think I've settled on using Launchbox as my front-end. I don't yet have the machine that I want to run it on full time, but I do have a spare hard drive. I was wondering how portable Launchbox is if I manage to start getting it setup on another machine and migrate it over. My thought process is to host the games on a network drive isolated from the host system running LaunchBox so I can use the host to do things like picture, data, video caching and then launching the games from a networked source. Is that worth me setting up on a drive ahead of time? Or would it just be better for me to wait until I get the machine setup? I'm pretty tech savvy, but part of the allure of LaunchBox to me was it's ease of use. So I'm hoping this wouldn't negate that. If anyone's tried something similar let me know! Thanks.
