1. .....i may do more but will see.....
2. let me try again. I will download retroarch and install it completely fresh. (together with the added instructions I sent you) if that works for me...then it should also work for you
3. and the mame.opt file? Is it place in the retroarch\config\mame directory?
4. what is in your BigBoxSettings.xml? That should show then that you are using the Default theme. Mine shows this. <LaunchBox> <BigBoxSettings> <Theme>Unified & Ultrawide</Theme> have u tried changing that to some other theme? See if that makes a difference? For instance RetroFresh Detailed or any other BB theme <LaunchBox> <BigBoxSettings> <Theme>RetroFresh Detailed</Theme> If any other theme does work, then maybe something is indeed wrong with your files. LB doesn't overwrite everything u did if you update it or do a reinstall. If that is a concern...u can always just install it to a temp directory and move over the files to your current install.
5. just place that font in the directory it is referring to views/launchbox_theme_folder/fonts/ Are you using a custom theme? Cause the redhatdisplay is part of the 'Default' theme and should be in following directory [YOURDRIVE]:\Launchbox\Themes\Default\Fonts So if you are using a custom theme,...copy those fonts over to your custom theme. RedHatDisplay-Black.ttf
6. Thanks!!!! It works now! Much obliged.
7. I still have these Maybe they are of use to you. They are for a full set. U do mean the xml's to go from 0.277 to 0.278 I presume? MAME 0.278.zip
8. something like this?
9. I like to start fullscreen with version 0.99 but I can't even get arculator v0.99 to run. It always says 'no roms present' Even though I have placed roms in the 'roms' folder, tried different naming, with .ROM extension, without extensions, different namings for the 310 rom nothing works. What kind of file does arculator v0.99 expect as rom? Where does it need to be? Trying AHK to launch with version 2.2, that I also cannot manage.
10. No, an error is an error. So doing the same things which caused the error will never fix the error. Just means you can pinpoint what it was u were doing which caused the error, and also have the ability to submit the error to the LB team so they can look into it. To tell what it was, u need to recreate those steps and find out yourself. If it always happens for a particular platform of roms u are importing...then maybe it has to do with some of your roms (probably naming or some issue with them) Like I said, could be anything really. Based on just your error, LB team know part of the code which threw the error and can probably improve on it. But to pinpoint what exactly caused it, they probably need more context as to what u were doing and importing.
11. No, not yet. I wasn't sure anymore cause I couldn't find clear information and I also could not find it in my own exodos so was still on the backburner of things to do. So was a question of when in doubt.... Just that Ninja Warriors Again is an alternate name and probably a remake or remaster.
12. something is going wrong while u are importing games. How many roms were you importing? U could troubleshoot yourself by doing a smaller number of roms. Try and see if it happens with any particular rom or number of roms U could also try if it has to do with the kind of media you are trying to download. For instance, import the same set of roms...but this time import them without checking any artwork, leave them empty. somewhere in LB code import it is expecting a certain item to be present but it isn't, which throws that error. Anyway, this could have a broad array of causes. So either try pinpoint it yourself, or submit that error through the submit error button while it's being thrown.
13. glad to have helped!☺️
14. my apologies, I indeed did not get that from your original request 😁 If your specific feature is up until now still not available then I guess there is always the option to create a separate LB/BB with only your arcade games. Seeing as LB/BB is portable and you already have everything set up this would be an easy job which wouldn't take more than a couple minutes. Wouldn't be exactly as you want it to be but we make do with what we have I suppose. You could also always submit a feature request https://feedback.launchbox.gg/ or i think through this link : https://bitbucket.org/jasondavidcarr/launchbox/issues/new
15. just leave them in chd format and load them through retroarch with the mame core. Instead of in Launchbox pointing to the CHD file...create an empty zip file with the name of the game (found in fmtowns_cd.xml) and launch that. (so ssf2.zip) Also...the CHD rom must have the mame naming found in fmtowns_cd.xml (fmtowns_cd.xml - found in mame install directory in mame\hash) So for Super Street Fighter your chd will be named super street fighter ii - the new challengers (japan).chd And in LB for Super Street Fighter II - The New Challengers (Japan) you would have LB looking to launch ssf2.zip Don't forget to put a fmtownshr.ini in the retroarch\system\mame\ini directory and put all your games in a fmtownshr folder And if all goes well : some useful links (for bios, mouse controls) https://forums.libretro.com/t/fm-towns-in-retroarch/41175/10
16. cool, and sad at the same time. Cause I saw you also decided to get rid of your collection. So yeah, bit sad to read. But if you moving abroad I guess I can understand. Anyway, many kudos for trying to keep it alive for preservation purposes 😊
17. For getting Mame Software lists to work there are a couple basic things to get right In the Retroarch\system folder Make sure there is a 'mame' folder in that folder there will be following folders mame hash ini nvram roms samples In the hash folder will be all hash xml files which u can also find when u installed mame in the mame\hash folder in the ini folder will be your ini files Each platform has it's own ini file For coleco adam this will be adam.ini Never mind why that is...this naming has to be followed and u can easily find online how to name each ini file for whichever platform u want to use Mame itself also needs its own ini file...that will be called mame.ini In those two ini files...u can put the paths to your roms. For your Coleco adam this can be homepath . rompath roms Or if you have your games placed somewhere else can also be homepath . rompath roms;"C:\LaunchBox\Games\Coleco ADAM\adam" If you put your roms someplace else, it is good practice to always keep your files in the same name as MAME is looking for so Sega ST-V games go in a subfolder called 'stv' Coleco Adam games go in a subfolder called 'adam' It does not matter how your main folder is called, just make sure there is always a subfolder with the MAME SL naming in retroarch\system\mame\roms you also need to put in the bios files which mame needs to run Coleco adam files. (or in the folder where you decide to place your roms) You will also find these in retroarch\system\mame\roms\adam Once you know how to do it for one software list platform, u basically can configure it for all SL's
18. give me a couple minutes to make you a proof of concept to get some games running in retroarch. u do have retroarch installed and working? with the latest mame core downloaded?
19. BAS are smartbasic programs : SmartBASIC was the built-in programming language on the Adam and BAS files were used to store these programs. DDP digital data packs, u could call them tapes or cassettes. DSK is floppy/disk yes. THey are set up the same way in mame. in Software lists in adam_flop, adam_cass
20. Before I explain...do you have a list of games you want to play on coleco adam? That way I can point you in the right direction to specifically get those games up and running
21. QOL = quality of life I think? Then yes, I agree. Anything which makes things easier.
22. You're pretty active making these tools stigzler 👍 Nice work!
23. Easy...either configure this in launchbox by right clicking a platform and choosing edit Then check the box there 'hide in bigbox' IF you have lots of platforms, it's easier and quicker to just quick edit them in notepad with REPLACE ALL Open your platforms.xml (in the launchbox\data folder [YOURINSTALLDRIVELETTER]:\Launchbox\Data Then find and replace the text : <HideInBigBox>false</HideInBigBox> and change that for the entire platforms.xml to <HideInBigBox>true</HideInBigBox> And then change only your arcade to : <HideInBigBox>false</HideInBigBox>
