  1. Hi everyone. Been a while since I've been able to get on here. I have found bits of information on this topic that for a complete newb the basics are missing. Basically what I am trying to do is get joytokey to start and end any time I open a visual pinball game through LB. So far what I know is a batch file needs to be made in order to get joy to key to exit when exiting the game because a script will only start joytokey and not exit upon leaving the game. I don't know if it makes a difference but I did have to turn off each tables association with an emulator to get it to launch properly so none of them have an "emulator" per say through launchbox because it won't auto launch the game and instead brings up the emulator as if I am loading the table and still need to hit play to start the table. My assumption then is I may have to do that for each game that is unless I can script it to go through the emulator and automatically hit play after the table loads like it does without the emulator association. Cool with it either way, just don't know the nitty gritty.

    Lets assume I know what has to be done terminology wise but that I don't know how to do any of it (writing scripts, creating the batch file proper, ect.)
    I can say that I had to make quite a few batch files for my dreamcast library and the CDI I believe (its been a while) so I know the basics of running the batch program by putting what you want made into a batch file into the proper folder with the batch program but lets assume here that

    - I don't know how to write scripts (very little programer knowledge)
    - I don't know how to specifically make a batch file for anything but the mentioned up above
    - Am not sure how to direct everything properly afterwords to make sure launchbox is reading everything right (ex. do I just redirect to the batch file instead of the "tablename".exe file?)

    Sorry to make this so wordy or if these are some stupid questions. The closest I get to doing anything script wise or anything related here is working on this launchbox project. I am just a humble retail manager ?. Thanks so much!!!!

  2. I wish i would have gotten more into scripting and coding when I as younger. I have such an urge to do game translations and understand this stuff more, but with a 60 hour work week that leaves little time ?. Thank you guys again for being there!

    Try this. I just tested and it works.

    There is likely a cleaner way to write it but it works.

    SetTitleMatchMode, 2

    Loop
    {
    	if WinExist("SameBoy v0.12.2")
    	{
    		WinActivate
    		break
    	}
    }

    send, ^f

    Going to apologize here. Where would I put this at? I wouldn't call myself a newbie at this point but I have not messed with this much.

    So I see the problem now. You can only make full screen a game is loaded, not before because I just tried it the way you did and it worked fine. So how would I write that into launchbox? I think right now its trying to make fullscreen before the game is loaded in launchbox and thats why it is crashing. Is there a way to make this happen? Also thank you you beautiful genius you! At least I am half way there now.

  5. As stated I did try this. No luck. About broke my keyboard trying it.

    Just downloaded this to look, it tells you in the help menu what the combo is, it's CTRL F for fullscreen.

    use the retroarch core version of sameboy and you will have the options for full screen

    Any way around having to use retroarch? It's not as friendly to me as the stand alone version. Call it stubbornness, call it stupid, call it what ever but retroarc is not my thing. There has to be a way to make it work.

  7. So it is like hell to get this game deal set up with the available emulators to my specifications. I'll start by what I am looking for in that:

    - No super gameboy boarders for games that are super gameboy enhanced
    - Full screen is a must
    - Run all games as if you were playing them through gameboy color so even if its foe colored its colored.
    - No glitches

    - Need to be able to exit the thing with my controller

    So here is the rundown. I am most happy with SameBoy so far. It is doing an amazing job at everything EXCEPT full screen. It says it has a full screen option but Control+F is not working on my Windows 10 (Most current version of the emulator I think 12.2 ). I tried to use the -fullscreen command with LaunchBox and it just fails to load. The retroarch core seems to work fine here but that interface infuriates me to no end.

    Next we have Visual boy and man what a nightmare there to try and set up to exit along with it always choosing the wrong GameBoy type. This one to quit is control+q. I have found a way to switch that but this fails to work once a rom is started.

    Then we have MGBA which if it is a super GameBoy game and I do not want the boarders..... Well boy howdy to we come across all kinds of graphical issues (specifically tried this with pokemon red and blue) where half of sprites start looking like MissingNo. Specifically when we are changing which GameBoy we are using.

    I am not a fan of Retroarch. I've tried a million times to go back to it and I just feel its way way way to busy for me.

    Anyone have any suggestions or idea on this matter. If I could get that full screen to work on sameboy I would be all set but man there is just no information on google about that .Thanks in advance guys. Appreciate all your help.

  8. Can't seem to find them anywhere without Google searching each one and coming up short on some. Does anyone know where to find these as a bundle? Kinda the frosting on the cake for my big box build.

  9. Having a mind racking issue. Theme is working pretty well, got a start up video to start with it but for the life of me I can not figure out how to add videos to the screens that pop up after you click the console. I get a black screen. Tried naming the video I would like to use as the title of the platform (copied and pasted so everything was right as far as spelling and captialization) both with and without .mp4 on the end. Tried clicking every option on and off I could think of that would be related. Nothing still. Is there something more to adding extra stuff to themes I don't know about that the readme with the file doesn't suggest or is there something small I am missing. P.S. everything natural with the theme works fine including the video that came with it. Thanks guys!

  10. Love this place. Thanks for the info. I'll start with the CHD and start cancelling things out there. I'll try adding the qsound to battle as well. I think this is my last step for launch box and then I can actually start doing some work on big box!!!! Thanks again guys!!!

  11. So I've been using rom center to double check my files to make sure we are in the good. Most are correcting but I have some where all files needed are there and the game simply will not load. List is being generated from mame it's self and cross reference with the ones I have in folder. Some examples would be both area 51 and area 51/maximum force Astro Chase
    - bass angler
    - bass angler 2
    - battle arena toshinden 2
    - bonze adventure

    Just to name some. Anyone else experience this issue and figure out what's going on? With the Capcom games I found there was a file needed that rom center was not picking up on

  12. Ok so I have solved my own problem and just in case anyone has the same oversight as me I would like to post the answer. It is simple really and I feel quite foolish. I have my files to stay zipped unless playing them. My save file therefore for the game would be located in the same file as the TEMP UNZIPPED game and NOT the GAMES folder that houses the ZIPPED game. Very foolish of myself to think otherwise. What threw me off was seeing a .sav file in the actual folder with all the zipped games. The more you know. Hopefully this will withstand the test of time and anyone having this issue will get help from this post.

    That i cant answer as i dont play pokemon, you'll have to google that one im afraid.

    No worries will do. All the info was amazing and I appreciate you taking your time with me ?

  14. One last question because I am having an issue with mgba with this. Say I'm playing Pokemon and I want to trade between two ROMs. Do any cores support this function?

    Beetle IS mednafen, they have to change the name in retroarch, so all the mednafen cores are called beetle.

    If you have a decent PC then use the beetle cores, and HIGAN for SNES, MESEN for NES, and mupen 64 next for N64. This image below is Wave Race 64 upscaled in mupen 64 next, running at 4K.

    I will give this a shot. Can you mess with filters and shaders?
