No I've never had the desire to use it as I don't really like/use most of Steams features. Is why I said if there is something I'm missing in the equation feel free to let us know and add feature requests for the bits you really hoping get into the mainline application. Some of what you mentioned I didn't even know Steam had at all let alone for non-steam games. This is why the feature request system is so vital. You can school us devs (something I'm not ashamed I need fairly regularly) and get us the information we need to figure out how important this is to the community and why.

Put simply, the steam UI allows for per game configs and far greater customization of controls, letting me use the paddles of my elite controller as additional inputs. I can do alot more with Steam UI than I ever could in any emulator. It provides a more unified experience across emulators and was a major contributing factor to why I chose Launchbox for my emulation setup.

  2. Any hope of this ever getting fixed?

The only work around I can figure out is by launching Launch Box FROM Steam, with the plugin turned OFF. Doing this launches every game/emulator under "Launch Box" meaning you must make a separate profile for each game and swap out to the correct profile for each game instead of each game having its own unique profile and using it on load. And because Launch Box is seen in Steam as its own "game" you must open a game from Launch Box, from Steam, and set Launch Box's controls to your Desktop Layout which must be saved under Templates, in order to seamlessly operate Launch Box with controller. And God forbid if you don't switch back to Desktop Layout before quitting a game.

Look in the Games Details panel on the right, just above the Information section.

But I like to run with Details turned off for more cover space (5 wide vs 2). There ain't no way of making them show back up in the right click menu under Additional Apps short of figuring out which games I have with web links and turning them into shortcuts? It's more of a hassle now having to enable Details and scroll down for each one, and then my mouse cursor catches on the cover and zooms out so I have to move it...

  4. ...I know how to have duplicate entries in Launchbox. I'm trying to have one boot default Smash, and have the other boot modded. I just about have it figured out, but now Steam Launcher is having fits and I'm trying to figure that out.

Update: I got it working. The trick is to make a copy of your Yuzu installation and create a User folder in both, making them portable, and move everything from your "C:\Users\your user name\AppData\Roaming\yuzu" folder into the one you wish to use for mods, making sure to copy your keys into the new Yuzu.  Additionally, you can redirect the paths of your nand and sd card to the old one if you wish to share between them. The result is two different installations of the emulator, each with different settings, in my case modded Smash and unmodded. Now the duplicate LaunchBox entry just has to be set to launch with the new Yuzu.exe. I hope this helps someone.

  5. is it possible to have two different entries for the same game, one using mods, and the other default?

I want to have a separate entry for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate mods

  6. What do you find is the best, cleanest and most convenient way to set up LaunchBox? Do you have other region games combined into a single entry, or set up as a different platform entirely? Do you have a special platform set up for commonly used apps and shortcuts? Share any personal touches you like to do to make LaunchBox work better for you!

I'd be happy to help you out but I'm going to need a lot more details than what you provided.. Tried booting emulators that were working before what? "Nothing works as it should" meaning.. what exactly? Things (the plugin, LB, ??) work if you fresh install what? The plugin? LaunchBox? Or do you mean when you re-setup/install an emulator or game or rom? I'm the author of the emulator so I can probably point you in the right direction and/or help you troubleshoot an issue you're having but please provide as detailed of an explanation as you can and ideally, provide some logs as well. If you don't know how to collect logs, there are instructions on the plugin download page describing how to do so but I will copy/paste those instructions below for your convenience. Please do not just provide log files though. They can only tell me so much so I will need a detailed description of the issue as well.

    Logs

To provide help with any technical problems or to investigate a bug, I will need a copy of the debug log that is generated whenever 'Log Level' is set to 'Verbose'. To enable and collect 'Verbose' debug logs, do the following:

    • Open the SteamLauncher settings dialog.

    • Click the dropdown box under 'Log Level' and select 'Verbose'.

    • Click the 'Save' button.

    • Restart LaunchBox/BigBox.

    • Now simply repeat whatever behavior was causing the issue and/or bug, and after you're sure you've replicated the behavior, close LaunchBox/BigBox.

    • Look inside of the SteamLauncher directory for a file named 'debug.log' (there may be more than one sequentially named log file if there was an enormous amount of output but this is unlikely if verbose logging was turned on just briefly).

    • Open this 'debug.log' file in a text editor, copy its entire contents, and paste/upload it to pastebin.com.

    • In the SteamLauncher support thread, provide the PasteBin URL, the details of the problem you encountered, and the particulars of your setup (Windows version, 32-bit or 64-bit, LaunchBox version, Steam version, SteamLauncher plugin version, etc). The more information the better.

Since your last update, I set up all my emulators, and everything worked great. After a few days, everything went back to not launching when using the plugin. First I figured that Steam broke it again. So I deleted the plugin and extracted a freshly downloaded copy I had backed up, and everything worked again. I went and copied the settings I had before and everything still works fine. I just don't get how after several days of having everything set up and not messing with anything, it broke itself.

  8. I just tried again, and emulators work as expected. With PC games, its a mixed bag. For some, Steam interface works right, some it doesn't work at all. For TMNT Shredders Revenge: Overlay works, Controller input not recognized. Plugin turned off, controllers work. I'm not sure how much of it is the plugin, and how much of it is particular games having issues with Steam UI as a whole.
