Does anybody please know where I can get a full rom set for 0.259. I have looked everywhere. internet achive, mega ect. I have other rom sets that work with my older versions. The only reason I am updating is so I can use cheats. Man, you would think getting rom sets would not be this hard these days. Somebody please help

This is what I get when I try to run d3d in full screen. In window mode the game works. But I cannot access hlsl settings. But it does have some kind of filter D:\Games\MAME\MAME 226>mame64.exe Unable to create the Direct3D device (8876086C) Unable to initialize Direct3D 9 Fatal error: Unable to complete window creation

At least open gl works. Thats why I thought I could change some of those settings?

The chipset has caused alot of issues. Its the x 299 prime. So x series cpu, which is meant to be great but I regret buying it now. I should have stuck to mainstream. Anyway I'm stuck with it now. Graphics is just a gtx 1070. But it runs new games fine using direct x? and no found issues with direct

hmmm, I don't know what is it. Everything works fine on my $300 windows 7 machine. But my very expensive machine that runs new games with ease struggles. So frustrating

Hi all, Can somebody please help me to alter the open gl settings so I can get sf2 looking the way I want. My HLSL settings don't work, thats a whole other issue that I won't go into. Below are the settings that I would like to replicate. I hope it is possible with open gl. The first picture is the standard settings. The second is what I am trying to get, its not so pixelated. Its smooth and blended, I don't want scanlines. Any help would be awesome.

Can somebody please have another look at this. I still can't get the hlsl settings to work?! Its weird. d3d only works in window mode. So thats fine I just run it in window mode. But I can't access the hlsl settings like scanlines ect. When I press the ~ key I only get limited options such as master volume, screen gamma, screen contrast ect, but not scanlines. There should be enough clues for somebody to figure this out. I think its not looking at the hlsl settings maybe the wrong path. I don't know?

I already tried that DX9 June installer. I'll do the other thing though. I really appreciate the help btw. If I can add scanlines and stuff using open gl, I will be happy with that. Yes I have tried different versions of mame (not all of them obviously), and they all have the same issue. Actually, that one I haven't tried works fine, haha

*BREAK THROUGH! I found if I run the MAME app in a window (instead of full screen), it works. This is very interesting. So this proves its definitely a MAME issue. The front end, game select and MAME options screen runs in full screen mode. It's only when I try to run a game that it crashes.

It does work with open gl. But how does that eliminate the gpu? Is there a way to add scanlines and other stuff to the open gl settings? Also, how do you explain Direct X working fine with my other games? There must be a way to uninstall Direct X, but there does not seem to be. I don't really want to install a third party app to do it either.

I have been working on this issue and I have found that the problem lies with my graphics card. Let me be clear though. My graphics card is fine. Its an 8GB ge force 1070 which is more than capable of running MAME and all the games. Hell, it runs demanding flight sims and War Zone no problem at all. Therefore I have determined that MAME is the issue. Something in the MAME software does not like something in my graphics card. Its funny. After I updated my graphics card driver, it ran the roms for a while, like MAME forgot what it didn't like, then when it remembered the error came back again. Oh, I proved it was the graphics card by disabling it. A simple test, I'm surprised nobody on here suggested it. Maybe I need to go straight to self aware status for my work here? Anyway now that I have narrowed down the issue I will move this topic over to the MAME DEV forum for further investigation.

As expected. "Fatal error. Unable to complete window creation" As I said above, I had a feeling it would do this again. I'm switching to another version of MAME. Will post results

how do I change the resolution? I don't think thats the problem. The only thing I can find is hlsl snap width 2048 and hlsl snap height 1536. I changed these to my windows 7 res but it made no difference.

As soon as I select 0.1 it starts going laggy. I will check the resolution. I copied and pasted so probably the same res as win 10

Yep that done it. Thanks NightShadowPT. I'm just messing around with the scanlines on my WIndows 7 machine, and as soon as I turn scanlines up to 0.25 the game stutters and goes all laggy. Seems ok on my Windows 10 machine. Weird aye

Hi all, Thanks to lordmonkus for getting me to were I can start to play around with these settings. These settings come down to personal preference. I do appreciate you sharing your settings with me but for me I don't like the scan lines and the image is quite dark. Could you please show me how to brighten the image and lose the scan lines. The first image is the stock MAME settings. The second image below is the one I am trying to replicate. This is maybe Nicola Salmoria's from MAME 0.132 2009. I think these settings are perfect for Street Fighter II. So if somebody could please show me how to get close to these that would be fantastic. The third is the settings that lordmonkus gave me which, I think, doesn't really suit SF2.

I finally got it going! I won't say solved because it seems temperamental. I updated nvidia and tried it, still did not work. I was not prompted to re start my computer so didn't. And I tried to install the latest nvidia driver a not long ago and did re start my computer but that did not fix the issue. Anyway, I was about to start a new topic this morning, since this one kind of died and everybody, it seemed had given up. So I ran mame64.exe -v to get the "Unable to create window creation" error. And it ran the dam game! It has worked before and then stopped working, so I'll "test" it for a bit and post back if I have anymore issues. Thanks for the help. But I think it was more the MAME app rather than my computer. Reason: At no time were any issues detected in Direct X diagnostics, and it was up to date. All my other modern games were running fine. Clone of MAME ran fine on my Windows 7 machines. So maybe the MAME DEV team should be aware of this. Final note: I was running nvidia version 442.?? and now I have version 446.14

Hey Lordmonkus. These enhancements are not working on my $7000, Windows 10 gaming machine, but they do work on my $500 Windows 7 laptop, haha. This is because I can't get Direct X to work on my Windows 10 machine with MAME which is very annoying, I have tried everything. I know its not my Direct X 12 because there are no faults and my modern games run fine. Anyway, thanks for this it is much better and much closer to the original game and I now understand. For me the scanlines are a little over the top, so I am trying to tweak these settings a little to my liking. I have another MAME 0.132 see below, which I like the graphic settings in. Its very close to the original game. So I thought I would just copy these mame.ini values over to my .220 but I can't because they are different. So then I thought I would just drop SSF2T into the 0.132 roms folder, which works on my Windows 7 machine. But because I can't run games through the mame 0.132 application (only using the shortcut or bat file) I can't get ssf2t to run even though I know it works because I can run it on 0.132 on my windows 7 machine. So why will the roms run through the short cut and .bat file but not through the mame application. Probably because the short cut is not using Direct x but how then can I change this in the mame 0.132 The only other way is if you know the settings below and can tell me what how to put them into the ini file of my .220 version but remember I can't use Direct X so changes that need Direct X don't work. It would be better if more people were having Direct X issues with Windows 10 so the mamedev team could sort this out! UPDATE: So if I change # WINDOWS VIDEO OPTIONS #video d3d to video gl I can then run the roms through the mame 0.132 app but I lose the graphic enhancements also in the shortcuts. But if I leave it set at d3d I have the graphic enhancements but can't run any other rom apart from SF2. Any help here would be great, thanks. Can you please show me how to get my ssf2t game to look like yours. I don't know how to change the HLSL settings.
