  1. It has to be all CAPS!!! Everything else in the ini file is lower case, and this one thing is capital letters. How messed up is that? As you can guess, I got it fixed. Always something stupid. Thanks for helping and working with me on this. We are now rocking and rolling!
  2. I do have the correct display marked as my main display, but Mame doesn't seem to care because some how, it senses Display 2 as the primary. If I didn't, most of my other emulators wouldn't work. All of them sense the correct monitor, the main display. There must be some settings somewhere overriding MAME OSD Per-Window Video Options. Hopefully, after work, I will have the motivation to work on it. The only problem is I stare at a computer all day, so sometimes the last thing I want to do is continue that after work.
  3. I appreciate the information. I have spelled it correctly, and used the correct syntax. I'm worried that with a new Mame install I will mess up all that I have created. What about this game_rom.cfg file? Could I have already created one that is overriding the .ini files? Where would I find this file if it has already been created? I like your idea of testing. I will give that a shot soon. This is so frustrating. I can't wait to get it all up and running, this has been my Covid project, so it has been almost 2 years since I started. I'm starting to wonder if the computer I built, which I included as part of the project is strong enough to handle everything. I could not get a good GPU because of the shortage.... still can't. I have so much more going on in this build, I'm in over my head. Thanks again for your help. I didn't think about installing a new one... Usually, I am good at thinking outside of the box. So, no idea how to change the primary? Is that something that the GPU decides and you have no say in it?
  4. no change.
  5. Already did all of those...... and every combination.
  6. @JoeViking245 I thought I replied to this last night. I guess I never hit reply. I have tried all of that over and over again. No matter what display I enter Mame is on the same screen. I tried all other screens as well, tried every different combination, still it starts on the same screen... number 2. If I change the numscreen in the section above to 3 screens I get the game on all screens, but the initial "press any key screen" is always on the playfield. Once I press a key, then whatever game I am playing is on all three, so I know it is possible. Maybe I have to live with it just playing on all screens???? I don't know what else to do.
  7. I'm so sorry... Yes it did create a stuff file. I missed the part where I had to exit Mame first. It says that my second screen is the primary. Here is a copy and paste of what I see in the file below. How do I make Display 1 Primary? Anything else that may be odd? 8. How do I find out what the number of the screens are? I think that might solve my problem if I can just fix the .ini files.
  9. @JoeViking245 I'm not doing this through any front ends. I am using Mame.exe to launch the Mame games..... I've learned to get all emulators working first before using a front end. As I said, no matter what screen I change in the ini file it goes to the playfield TV. I should probably mention, I have two TVs as monitors and one small monitor for what would be the DMD, or for Marquee, if I wanted. I really do not reallly care right now about the or vertical games. I usually play them horizontal anyways. That seems like something I could fix later on. All I want is Mame to play on the backglass, and I cannot get that to happen. I just tried the stuff.txt execution, and Mame came up on the playfield. I didn't get the screen pic that you have.
  10. Hey Wolpoffm, I wish I saw that a long time ago, unfortunately, I was given the advice to get everything running for BB, all console/arcade emulators as well as mame, the only thing left is Mame not playing on the correct screen.... Once I get that, then work on pinball with different screen settings. I do plan on using PUP, I'm going to create a shortcut on the backglass/Desktop/main screen, for PUP and for BB when the PC is started. Depending on which one you pick, the main screen will change using a display changing software, because for pinball, the main must be the playfield, but for most console emulators, it must be the backglass if you want to play on the same system. I'm thinking about just resetting everything in Mame to default, since I have changed a lot of mame systems to match special settings for Lightguns and driving games, I would hate to delete but might have to. Do you know how to do that?
  11. @wolpoffm Thank you for that, I have been looking for something like that for some time, I am watching as we speak. I understand what your saying about the opposite. I do want some of the vertical games to play on the playfield like 1944, but not the ones that that are supposed to be on a backglass, especially the ones that I have for the Sinden. So, I have quite a bit going on, not to mention a G29 steering wheel on the same system, as well which is also connected to a PS4 with VR. I have multiple switches to go back and forth. I will also have another switch for VP and LB/BB. Every time I get one thing set up, I screw up something else. Let's hope this video can clear some things up for me.
  12. @JoeViking245 Hey it worked. I have tried to do this in the past, but could not... Thank you. Any other suggestions on what to do about my screen problem? I have heard of a -verbose option to see what my screens are, but I am not sure how to use that in command prompt. Do I go to the mame directory? I am not very good at command lines. Thanks again..
  13. Thank you for answering. I will give that a shot. Mame is showing on the playfield, but I want it to show on the backglass, and backglass is actually the main screen. OSD per-window seems to do nothing. I have tried all combinations of trying to get it to play on any other screen by itself. If I change the -numscreens to 3, then I can put anything in the OSD Per-window and no matter what, it comes up on all screens, but the Mame's warning still comes up on the playfield. I guess I did get you confused regarding pinball. Again, I appreciate your response, especially on New Years Eve.
  14. Hi Joe, sorry to bother you on such a minor problem, but it is proving to be more frustrating than anything I have encountered because it is probably so easy. You seem to be the go to guy when it comes to a VP setup. I have a three screen setup, and all I want is Mame to show up on the main screen just LB and all my other emulators, When I open a game, it should cover up LB or BB.... For some reason, no matter what I do, the press any key screen shows up on second screen (playfield, I will have different display settings when it comes to pinball). I have messed around with the ini file, the UI, and messed around with windows registry, I have messed around with everything and I cannot change it. If I increase the number of screens in the Mame ini folder, it just mirrors mame to all of the screens. I looked for other settings that might change it to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated so I can move on to setting up my Sinden Light Guns under the correct display settings with multiple screens, which is not easy. Then I can move on to pinball, which am highly anticipating. Thanks in advance for your help, Ingababovinanana
  15. Hi Headrush and jfree, I have this problem as well, unfortunately, I am not as well versed in creating bat files and code generation to correct this problem. I can do a work around for the time being and do my best to exit the game with no credits, but another problem exists on top of this one. For some reason, the game crashes in Sega Model 3 at random times, I have never been able to finish any of the campaigns. The video disappears, but you see the load up screen for the Rom in a windowed screen (no errors on it) and I cannot get back to the video, but the music still plays. When this happens I have to exit the game and if I am using Big Box, it causes all sorts of problems. Any suggestions on how to fix this or what might be causing it? Hopefully if I get this fixed someone can explain to me how to automatically delete the nvram after game play. I really want to play the rest of this game... I have done all sorts of searching, but cannot find any answers. Your help is greatly appreciated. Inga
  16. thank you. ignore the image attached.
  17. Wow... I did it... Kind of. I changed the platform name in edit platforms from All to 3DO Interactive Multiplayer. For some reason, now everything seems to work, except for my problem with Retroarch using the 3DO Opera Emulator, and it is still skipping badly on the FPS. I guess I just need to switch it back to the 4DO emulator, or figure out what is making Retroarch act like this. Then I will be all good. Maybe you have to shut everything down for certain things to take affect. I don't know why it wasn't working before, these things are so finnicky. Any suggestions on how to fix RetroArch? Do you use that Emulator? It's pretty cool to have quite a few emulators available in that one source, so I would like to get that working correctly if I could. I can't find any settings that would have changed it, and I can't find how to set back to default.
  18. I think I know what is happening now. There is a folder under LB that is called Games, it is not where I keep any of my roms.... I think when I import, LB automatically creates a folder called the platform in that folder and it is looking for the games in that folder only for 3DO, but not the others. I know this because it created it's own category (platform) called All, there is also one for all other platforms I have.... which I did not create. My roms are in E: drive under a launchbox folder named 3DO. This may correct my "All" situation, which is also weird because in LB, when I use either platform of All (there are Two) it shows all games in both of them, but when I use Big Box there is a separate platform for All which is just my 3DO games. Could I have a path messed up? If I delete the Games folder will it look where I have told it to? Any suggestions on quickly correcting this? Thanks, Ing...
  19. I have LB in the hard drive; C drive, with all of my MAME games that work fine, under roms, with some small exceptions with required CHD roms. I have a couple of MAME games on my SSD E: drive , but I changed the .ini file for MAME to except those as well, even though they run a bit slower in LB than they do directly in MAME (not sure why), but for another time. I have all emulators in a Launchbox folder under emulators, and the actual roms under each platform on the E: drive. I have all my other platforms set up this way. Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64 and both work... I imported the same way, but now I am stuck. On another note, I tried to get Greenshot to show you some screenshots, but after installing, it said my hotkeys were already in use somewhere else, which I had to change in order to use it. So I opted out, that is the last thing that I need. Thanks again, Ing.....
  20. Retro808, Alright, I did some testing. I still have the 4DO emulator, there are two files in 3DO roms, .bin and .cue. When you start the emulator it uses the .cue, which really just turns on the emulated console, then you have to pick the game by choosing the .bin file..(or it could be the other way around; .bin and .cue) 4DO gives you that choice under file at the top of the screen. All games work perfectly. I tried to use Retroarch and I think I have a setting messed up because the frame rate is wrong, and I cannot find the setting for FPS. I think I might have changed something because I was looking for the option to show FPS during game play and they moved that option somewhere... Even in the UI, makes me feel like if I had epilepsy, I would have a seizure, and that is how the games play as well, then there was a pop up saying it was playing at 24 fps in one of the games, which makes sense. I can't find the setting. Now all I want to do is change it back to default and I can't find any information on that anywhere. So the games do work on both emulators, based on my input above 4DO seems better... Either way nothing happens when I click on the games in LB.
  21. Thanks for the quick reply. I definitely should have checked on that first, but it is a bit confusing on whether I should check using the core in retroarch or the emulator itself. I guess I should try both by working backwards? In the tutorial they made it seem like using the 3DO, emulator is hard to do or daunting to get working, but maybe 3DO-opera is easier. I figured I wouldn't get that working either. I'll try that out and let you know.
  22. That is my motto, when in doubt, re-import.... I think that has gotten me into a lot of trouble, and I have spent way too many hours doing that, just to mess things up even more. I had everything working then I added a couple SSD drives for more storage and hopefully to speed things up a bit, and tried to emulate what I had done in the beginning and had to delete everything and start all over (which I have done a few times). Now I am tempted to do that again because I have run into more problems. Specifically with 3DO Roms, emulation, and set up. When importing 3DO, I decided not to use RetroArch because that gave me nothing but problems before and 4DO emulator was not a choice anymore in Retroarch, so I tried to use it outside of retro-arch. It almost worked but I had to point to the bios every time I opened up a game, and then it would say there was no CD, as if I was just turning on the Console with out a game. So I decided to change the emulator back to retroarch and use 3DO-opera, Moved some things around to make space, reimported a few times and the 3DO games said the rom did not exist. I then decided to unzip them and see if that worked, it did not. So, I did what I always do, deleted and tried to reimport, then they didn't even say Rom did not exist, I get absolutely nothing... So, I started over again, I accidentally reimported them into ALL platform. So now I have two ALL platforms, with all my games and no 3DO platform. I tried to play a 3DO game anyways and still, no dice.... I am worse off than I was before. Any suggestions on how to fix this before I just delete everything and start from scratch again? Please be gentle, I am not very familiar with all the subfolders and xml folders, etc, and think if I learned that, I would not have to start over every time. I bit off a little more than I can chew with this COVID project. Any help is appreciated. The Noobiest Noob ever, Ingabagovinanana
  23. I tried this last night and it did not work. I will look it over again tonight see if I can figure it out, if not, I will shoot you some screenshots of my set up with some context. Again, I appreciate your help. Ingabagovinanana
  24. Thank you.... I guess I was spoiled by it using the same folder as the default, didn't realize it had to be pointed too if the files are moved. I do appreciate it. Thanks for the screens, makes it so much easier to understand. Can't thank you enough. Ingabagovinanana
  25. Thank you, I will give that a try. When I looked that up, all it said for path was roms. I guess default would be the same path as the emulator path? So you are saying that I can point the .ini file to multiple drives and regardless of what Rom I want to play, Mame will know to look for it in either drive? Will it be that easy for LB if I want to put some Roms in one drive, and other roms in a different one even if they are the same platform and using the same emulator? I always try to make things more difficult than they should be in the name of saving money. I appreciate your help JoeViking245. Sincerely, Ingabagovinanana
