I'm really not a textbook case here 🤣
The software is already well known for its display delays and I often get teased when I show my prods to my colleagues at retrobat who have performances well above mine! An example here where bob morane regularly does performance tests!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KEueRzE4sGg
It's quite edifying
It must be said that I don't spare any means to enhance my collections: 2k background / Video transitions
If I can give you 1 or 2 pieces of advice, even though the users here are all well versed, I'm not sure I'll be able to teach you much, but I'll go for itThe 1st thing, and I won't teach you anything, is that it's night and day between a samsung m2 ssd and a sata disk. It changes your life, and following the example of developers who almost impose an ssd for all AA titles today, it's almost become compulsory for a launchbox player, as the gain in fps is so significant.
Secondly, as you know, the more media you have, the heavier the overall target, so choose your media carefully! For my part, it's a clear logo/a video and a 3d box, no more (and that's already a lot). When I create my box I immediately uncheck all the superfluous folders which I feel polish the whole (amazon files, epic etc) in order to make something clean.
I also uncheck all solicitations that could have an impact on performance: game suggestions, mame score, user note updates, etc.
I remove all transitions (fade etc)
and finally I use iobit advanced system care coupled with an accelerator and an app that simulates predefined overclocking.thirdly: try as far as possible to put everything in the game and media root. if you have your launchbox and your games on a separate disk it will slow down your overall experience enormously! it seems logical but it's important to remember

And here is VERSION 7 finished and it is 60 views that have been added in all and for all!
Next update in December for the final...

Undoubtedly all my prods have been developed by highlighting the "icon" and that we are more and more numerous to use whether it is the zelda ultima or even my custom Nostalgic bedroom! I tested a lot of things and c-beat is not wrong the best positioning remains horizontal slightly apart they are well highlighted. Since then we can also put them at an angle via the ctc and imagine new positioning.
Whether it is for movies or old systems I have built quite huge sets over the years for movies or games and some of which I share on my deviant
Other custom takes into account the circular relatively well, this is the case of:
neon arcade which for a long time had a completely adapted view which allowed us to make an interesting overlap between the 3d box and the icon or even
City Hunter also which was for a long time the custom that I used the most.
I find them much more demonstrative than a simple logo (my personal opinion) and they have a lot of advantages apart from the obvious aesthetic aspect, for example: If you have any doubts about the title? If you're in any doubt about the title, the vintage artwork will re-confirm what it is (nostalgia and memories also help) and then: Visually, for me, there's no photo/ and your eyes will thank you because you'll find your games more quickly and then the circular allows you to add relief to the image with the perspective to create a 3D effect and above all it can be customised at will (ring etc.)
unlike a ‘classics’ logo which is frozen, the icon is not!
Here
Typically the kind of cool, stand-out effect that I love!
I started my switchover 5 years ago and even if I have produced a lot I don't have my complete sets yet
but I can give you a good address for those who would like to do a little starter stuff

How and when can I download this? I'm amazed
Are you talking about a specific project? because I've done a lot of things.
I plan to share an ultima next month but I'm hesitant I don't know which one yet!
otherwise you'll find all my work on my patreon and I produce tons of stuff (in quantity at least half a forum per month) you may not be able to register on the big level but at least you'll see my news -
Some images from the arcade... A rather crazy atmosphere: I wanted to make it festive: dozens of different views for the playlists with an emblematic character for each playlist who comes to make easter eggs (predator for cps2 and robocop for data east etc) and also much more classic views! All in all (for the moment, the arcade is about 30 original animated views, sometimes with a lot of resources), And it's also the beginning of something very original that could potentially our habits and our way of navigating in a frontend ...

Hello exodus! I took the liberty of borrowing your view for 1 or 2 hours to improve it:
I upscaled/cleaned it (I removed a light layer of grain that weakened the image. I then animated it slightly (no flashy stuff) light effect particles and then tested it horizontally on a cave system in text view!
Here's what it looks like with the led font for the marquee:I found that it deserved a little extra!
I even added a little arcade sound ambiance (to cut or keep in the ctc depending on your choices)
You do what you want with it, it's a gift!
I can send it to you in mp if you want in neutral version*small detail the buttons are now also illuminated
my pleasure!

I seriously attacked Dragon ball mania for a release in December (at least for the first part)
I'm in the timing and it completely matches the news! the 40 years! the release of sparking zero and unfortunately the death of akira:a very nice tribute in perspective! Atmosphere...

@Clutz450In my opinion, what you need is an easily identifiable logo, I would even say "immediately identifiable:
we look at it and we know that it is talking about "that".I'll see if I can find something for you.

Great picks! Awesome to hear you managed to find those back in the day, hope you still have them now 😁 (probably my biggest regret was selling my SNES boxed games as a kid 😭)
Yes, something about PS1-era box art is very nostalgic, a lot of the JRPGs went all out on very colourful artistic pieces that were instantly recognisable. Vagrant Story and FF Tactics are some other great ones in a similar artistic vein 🖼️
No, not at all like you, I sold everything without regret. After years of collecting, I needed money for a project and I completely detached myself from the physical and material side; I kept the best: the memories! And of course the nostalgia.
And that's the whole story of my life and my work today.😂
**For the anecdote, the development team of the vagrant story (the same ones who made ff12 years later) went to Saint Émillion, a small historic village in France, and was greatly inspired by all the local architecture for the level design (Saint Emillion is also incidentally a very great wine / lots of references in the game)

Hello guys !
For me, these are undoubtedly two monsters during the golden age of Japanese RPGs at SquareSoft:
XENOGEARS
XENOGEARS
CHRONO CROSS
I can't tell you how happy I was when I discovered the boxes (at the time, they were impossible to find in France,
you had to import them from the US!)
First little summer job, I was able to buy them! And with a French/English dictionary on my knees
and then they're two crazy Mistuda music OSTs!The PSX modified to read US games and the intros ! Popopo ... Great memories!
And the CD boxes with instructions: they were clearly invitations to travel! The imagination that we were going to experience something unique!
Come on, just for fun, some background :Doesn't that make you want to go back? Me, yes.

Just wondering if you happened to make any kind of theme or media for 2 Player Game Boy Link Cable games. I just recently discovered that I can play games that use the link cable to connect 2 Game Boys together in RetroArch using the Sameboy core. Now I plan on creating a new Platform called "Nintendo Game Boy (2-Player)" and would love it if that platform had unique media to go with it rather than me reusing the regular Game Boy one. Thanks.
Hello, that's a damn good idea! Very clearly there are a lot of players who are returning to local play (and they are right) the publishers have not understood anything
when you see the last suicide squad which was a flop and which almost put Rocksteady on the straw to give us yet another online multiplayer game (that no one wants anymore)
or even the DBZ fans who are crying out for a local mode for the next Sparking (like the old ones) to play with friends...
I have a hard time following them and they are going to do it with Hogwarts Legacy while we are all asking for a solo experience. Anyway, I'm off ^^
A support? You mean views?
If yes, almost 10 for Nostalgic Bedroom
Here are some of them:

I remember seeing these over the years. Are you making these available for download or just showcasing what you've made thus far?
Hello I think you skimmed the post and you must have missed some information. Technically at the time the upload was limited to 2 GB per file and my achievements being quite heavy / the upload was complicated or even impossible on most of my projects to be shared.
But I think that has changed.
And 2nd point I did not have fiber! And that changes everything
I have a translation for the Zelda Ultima in progress! and I do not do it for myself: but with the aim of sharing it.
Of course I will not put everything online because there is too much personal investment in these achievements everything is built from scratch and some will remain accessibleonly for those who wish and via my patreon as part of a support.
( Which does not prevent me from sharing enormously for more than 10 years everywhere and especially all kinds of media or from lending a hand to other creators)

Ok awesome. No rush, just curious. I recently set up all the eXoDOS projects and importing all my other console games into it. The one change I made was I created a new platform category called Retro-eXo and placed everything from his projects under that category (I did that because I think it looks neater that way for when I import other computer games). So I was looking for an all encompassing video showing off all of his projects to add as a video for when I select that category in BigBox. In the meantime, I'll give all your other projects a look. Looks like you put a lot of work into them and from what I can see just in this post alone, they all look amazing.
your tree structure is really cool! Personally it's typically the type of organization that I put in place.
The thing is on the other hand (I don't know what theme you're on) but looking at that I also count the number of launch themes (video) too:
in the case where you have the home page in full screen!
That's a lot and I'm not sure everything is findable! That's a bit of a problem when you start on this type of "tree" you have to have something to fill lol
but I really like it.
But I think you shouldn't have too many worries since all your systems are built the same! Given the number of games, it smells like full sets ^^

In case I didn't understand correctly, are you saying that you plan to have an eXoDOS project completed by the end of the year? If so, that would be awesome.
By the end of the year! No, I have too many things on the fire before if I can give you a release window it would rather be early 2025:
Retro exo is not in a hurry at all and neither am I.
We want to do things well! I already have a lot of things in assets and ideas:
it will be up to him to validate or not it's his baby!

*This post was created simply for information purposes in a spirit of exchange and sharing.
Very invested in the production of custom big boxes for years (to tell you I even made it my job)
it seemed essential tome to give you an inventory of the projects that
I have carried out for the most part that I have completed and
3 others that I am currently working on!
**I will fill in gradually because I have a lot of things presented.**

Project: Zelda Ultima
Year:2017/2024
Status :100% complete ( 4 updates )
Zelda is a crazy project that has taken ALMOST 7 years of intense work between menu design, research, apprenticeship and development.
The initial idea was to create a more elaborate “collection” playlist.
But the saga's extensive universe soon caught up with me, and I soon felt cramped!
I needed room to tell/transmit my passion.
So I turned the principle of a frontend (big box launchbox in this case) into a unique collection dedicated to the world of Shigeru Miyamoto.
In the process, a new format was created: a completely independent “stand-alone” collection of almost everything about Zelda, very close to what a publisher could do in terms of production. In figures, Zelda Ultima is..:
*More than forty games listed, each with a specific icon and a cinematic theme designed by me, allowing you to launch all your games from a choice of 10 different views based on the sagas' lore.
*60 hand-restored and animated backgrounds to bring the game to life.
*6 different views for the main view / a “pause” menu AND a launch sequence for games and exit;
But that's not all! We needed to add real value to this collection.
So I worked hard on the content:
So I put a lot of work into the bonus content:With:
*Arts and Artefacts: discover or rediscover all the cult objects of the saga via 3D representations.
*All the guide books are now available via flipbook (but in English). Thanks to all those who sent me scans.
*encyclopedias too (all found on internet archives)
*A world map cartography section
*Music /making of section
*Fan made playable section / With unofficial crazy remake of ocarina of time.
*Explanation of the time line in 3 videos.
*Visit of the Temple of Time and the Zelda 3 Super Nes map in VR....
* Presence of the 4k Henriko magnifico patch (the themes and icons have been designed with this in mind) thanks to him!
*3 Demo of CRyZenX “s remake of ocarina of time ( with his permission)
Here's a real “black box” of Zelda memories
Zelda that I've concocted for you, and clearly a love letter to Nintendo's saga!I've never shared it publicly... Technically it was complicated
but an English translation is underway and I've recently got the hang of it.Nothing is impossible.
Note that the collection is completely devoid of games, out of respect for the publishers.
What I didn't know was that I was far from finished with this format...:)

Project : Resident Evil Ultima Survivors
Year: 2019/2019 ( 2 updates)
Statut Complete !
4 short months later and galvanized by the feedback for the Zelda Ultima, I was working on the new Ultima and this time I was going to completely change register since I was going to tackle the horific saga of capcom:
Resident Evil
Jumpscares in full choice in the interface ,( I worked a lot on the sound design)
A good dozen different views! With what I call "critical choise".Stressful situations (scripted forcing you to make quick choices)
Backgrounds and animated interfaces that change according to the title (atmosphere and animated characters).
Easter eggs and tutti quanti.
°Remake fan made of code veronica ,
RE2 version 1.5,
°Lifted version of psx episodes,
Real-time visit to the Spencer mansion (playable) and police station under unreal engine,
Cinematic section upscaled to 4 k
updated views with the arrival of 3D jackets that completely change the game, added themes, new games and above all the addition of the pc VR and DE RE4 versions of course!
In this case, I've really gone wild with the themes, with things we're not used to seeing...For once here I really let loose on the themes with things that we are not used to seeing...
It's almost 10 views in total 4 vertical / 3 horizontal for the games and 3 "main different categories" +3 bonus part!
Very happy with the tree, without a doubt, the skeleton of zelda ultima helped me a lot!

Project:
Castlevania Ultima Symphony of games
Year : 2022/2024 ( 2 updates )
As a big fan of the saga, I've been dreaming of a collection bringing together absolutely everything on the series, and now it's here! This stand-alone bigbox is particularly generous in terms of content!
The beast includes :
*More than 40 games listed, with theme music to wake the dead
*A bestiary section
*A music section with cult TITLES and many electric covers!
*A making of section
*A Castlevania art section
*A crypt with all abandoned projects and fan games
*More than 12 views for game selection
and 5 different views for the home page.
A small update in 2024 with the addition of a few games (Castlevania arcade)._______________________________________________________________
Project : Les enfants terribles
Metal Gear Ultima
Year : 2023
Again a Konami SAGA!
Metal Gear !
It covers the entire saga and offers real added value in terms of aesthetics and content. What it contains:
*A little over thirty games listed ( even survives )
*4 interchangeable main views whenever you like
*A dozen different, varied and original views, using the saga's lore to choose the games.
*Hand-animated interface / Video themes
*30 themes and 40 or so icons and over 20 animated backgrounds built from scratch. Everything except the pachinko games.
*It's also upgradeable via updates.Bonus:
*Metal Gear VR PLAYABLE (Boneworks)
*Metal Gear Fan legacy playable( Visit shadow moses in vr or desktop mode under unreal engine)
*English and French documentaries on MGS 2 and MGS 4
*Archives “the first mgs trailers”.
*Vf cutscenes
*2 data bases!
Lost track of the story? The animated data base is available at any time to refresh your memory/ in addition to the official data base.__________________________________________________
AND FINALLY Nostalgic Bedroom is a "ship" that includes a whole collection section with dedicated interfaces for each emblematic series retracing the history of video games (for the moment a good twenty but in the end there will be more than 50).
QuoteHere the mario collection :a big piece and one of the highlights of last year!
This avalanche of views and effects was created with a simple and unique goal: To give a real collection aspect and as for a physical collection you will sometimes surprise yourself by "watching" more than playing...
And that's intentional! 😉 The theme has continued to grow and has sometimes completely overwhelmed me by the ambition but is now completely stable and is fully mature. VR is fully integrated!
A film section covering 3 generations 80 / 90 / HORROR 80 was designed thanks to the help of contributors... by integrating a mini video club 80.
It exudes good memories everywhere and necessarily nostalgia. I do not hesitate to take my time to establish atmospheres and give a real soul and to breathe a lot of memories into all the views.
Note that all my ultima editions come this merged in NB Via adapted versions.
Unfortunately, the theme also attracts a lot of crooks. I'm protecting my work as much as possible until I find a viable way to protect my media.
Only about fifty people have access, but they've been there for almost 5 years ...
I am currently attacking arcade..
----------------------------------------------------------
Cyber Runner
Year 2021 not finished
Progress : 60 %
Having gone through many different stages, the theme is about to be released in beta version on my patreon for correction and then be online on the forum
Very particular (this cinematic/scripted side will not please everyone)
But a lot of interesting things and a great atmosphere! The pitch: Year 3140: Nintendo, Sony, Sega, Google, Amazon no longer exists ... For almost 700 years, Mircrosoft now has a monopoly and controls the actions of consumers.
Despite this digital and virtual exclusion, it is said remain those we name: "The retros", those who have not given in to the illusion of everything dematerialized ...
They are discreet, and we often find them in old ruins:
we call them...Cyber Runner!

Next for September and the Last of the edition Ultima:
Final Fantasy Ultima !
Year : 2024
Progress : 40 %
But it 's not the end !

Anothers big big projects for the end of 2024 (for the part 1) :
and which is particularly close to my heart and very, very much awaited!
DB MANIA is a crazy cross-media project that brings together everything you need and lets you house it all (anime, film, manga, etc.) in a single interface!
Anothers projects reveal !
soon come back later!
________________________________________________
And last big project for exodos to whom I proposed some views (maybe more) to integrate this monstrous but phenomenal collection!
I found that it lacked something a little sexier and in line with the project.- 2

Still in the series I make something new with something old (or "I dust off old media") Here is still and again a classic that I will say made a little more energetic
in order to attract the eye!
and normally you will not take it off the screen and that's what it's made for!
Addition of my Sega Genesis V4
(2Versions HQ or Compressed)
Bouh !
It's definitely the month of big comebacks...I hadn't planned to come back right away and then my friend Kingslayers planted a little seed!
And I said to myself come on! It's only idiots who don't change their minds
And as I passed by I said to myself that I was going to give a wink and a little homage to those who were there before me.
@Soon as soon as I have a little time I will come back to post
if everyone agrees of course
V1
Resolution :3840x2160 4K
Format : HEVC
60 FPS
415 MO
V2
FORMAT H264 Compressed via handbrake
210 MO
The theme is clearly the opposite of James since I wanted it to attract. so it's 2 minutes longer (I couldn't see myself cutting the piece)
at worst it exists and is still present on the servers in the original version if it doesn't suit you but a little change after almost 10 years (and yes already!)
it's cool !

Why is Launchbox so slow?
in Troubleshooting
Posted
It made me want to do a " Crash Test on NB "
( Principle of the crash we test the frontend's ability to adapt and we mistreat it ^^ so we scroll and we see how it reacts)
Just for fun and laughter!
Well I'm surprised and pleasantly surprised! (I wasn't even on an SSD) given what I have behind in background + media and metadata and animation
it's even very good! Not perfect but there is a big window to improve all that
Once again I am far from being an optimization model.
4 minutes of torture for my launchbox :
