Hope this helps others. I recently just ran into the same issue getting .dsk game types to run using MAME thru Launchbox. I decided to go with a standalone emulator and ran across Virtual ADAM. It runs ADAMEm using DOSbox to make it compatible on Windows 64bit systems. I liked the DOSbox idea but Virtual Adam does not support command lines and requires all the game files to be in its roms directory, so how did I get it to work, bypassed what Virtual ADAM actually does. Virtual ADAM takes the game file you load in a drive and copies it to its temp deirectory as LDrive1.DSK, then it runs DOSrun.bat in its root directory which loads its own DOSbox with a preconfigured cofig file. To get this to work with Launchbox try the following
1. Download and install Virtual ADAM to the emulators, this is the website I got it from and confirmed its legit and works in Windows 11 https://adamarchive.org/archive.php?dir=%2FEmulators%2FColecoVision+%26+ADAM+Computer, make sure to select "Virtual ADAM v1.03 with NET Frameork Fix (2010) (Steve Pitman).zip" and click "DOWNLOAD"
2. I created LaunchADAM.bat in the Virtual ADAM directory
LaunchADAM.bat
@echo off
copy /Y "%~1" "D:\LaunchBox\Emulators\Virtual Adam\Temp\LDrive1.DSK"
"D:\LaunchBox\Emulators\Virtual Adam\DOSBox-0.72\DosBox.exe" ^
-noconsole ^
-conf "D:\LaunchBox\Emulators\Virtual Adam\Vadam.cfg"
3. Setup the Virtual ADAM emulator. Notice the Application path, Default Command-Line Parameters, Check hide Console Window
4.Setup of the game, ADAMEm does not support zip so you have to unzip your files
5. Run your game in Launchbox
I have not tried all the games yet but thought this was a clean way to launch ADAM dsk images.
