  1. "To me it felt like the stuttering ordered when there was rumble" Its limited to the chips in the old 4-play series ( non existent in the advanced chips). The older chips released in 2004 were used in the original Bliss-Box design (2007) and replaced around 2019. This is 4-Play vs 4-Play advanced. These old chips did not have dedicated USB hardware in them, as it was not available in avr chips at the time. Same with Raphnet. The good thing is that both adapters use the same cables drivers and ID, so its just a dirrect swap. Retro Arch has older configs for the 2.0 firmware, and the newer configs ( found on Bliss-Box's web site) work with 3.0 or the newer chips. I don’t want to manage / update 10 different versions of RetroArch anymore. - Not with Bliss-Box you wont. There are still a lot of controllers I can’t find reliable adapters for. - Not with Bliss-Box https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1oMFpFBTok4IsV2DBt48HlUafx2qMWoTxGjpKMFjfSDM/edit?pli=1&gid=0#gid=0 Some features, like rumble support, don’t reliably work with some of my adapters. - Not with Bliss-Box, may ways to make it work. Connect SNES controllers --> start a SNES game with RetroArch --> all buttons for players 1 & 2 work perfectly out of the box. - If you use the latest auto configs yes, there is always learning, but for the most part, if done right, it works. Lots of support.
  2. Wondering if anyone has the old or new 4-play? Few upgrades from the original. All ports up front, fits in a drive bay with a kit, Has Xinput mode switches, power button does USB 2.0 ( fixed to a 1ms poll rate). Xinput mode has been nice, as some emulators just do not like HID anymore, but it limits the abilities. Still works great with RetroArch and everything I tried so far. Also uses the same USB ID, so it works with existing setups. And all the original cables.
  3. The USB ID, is specific to the port. Each port gets its own ID.
  4. Yes, I can run any tests you like, I have a boat load of controllers. But here is how it works. Plug in say a snes, and hit the rest button. Game, and play... now this is a diamon style button layout, so unplug it ( controller will press start and try to pause the game ) plug in another diamond style controller, say, psx and just keep gaming, the layout is the same. You can do that dor any controller but some layouys are a funky match. There is also an alternitive layout mode Now if for some reason it does not find the new controller, hit reset. That forces it to redetect, but often not needed. Just make sure to wait up to 2 second before useing the swapped out controller. The 4-Play and the 4-Play Advacned work the same way.
  5. sorry for the bump, but exciting news. There is a new sheriff in town https://bliss-box.net/products/4-play-advanced-1 Check out the compare images There is also a drive bay option now. https://bliss-box.net/products/4-play-advanced-5-1-4-drive-bay-adapter-kit-3d-print
