  1. When importing from Steam, both https://store.steampowered.com/app/8980/Borderlands_Game_of_the_Year/ and https://store.steampowered.com/app/729040/Borderlands_Game_of_the_Year_Enhanced/ use https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/details/115215 for metadata. I get what looks like a duplicate in my LaunchBox library even though those are two separate games in Steam. I don't know where else to report gamesdb problems so I thought here would be ok.

    MAME

SentaiBrad, I think a MAME tutorial video for LaunchBox would great for the LaunchBox Youtube channel. I've been watching them and they are very well made. I find setting up MAME pretty intimidating since there are so many options: For the emulator there is stock MAME or MAMEUIFX or other forks For ROMS, there are clones, CHD games, and whole categories of games that have little interest such as majong etc If you did a tutorial video, I think it should deal with the following issues: 1- Choice of MAME build: I always look for a NoNag build to skip the warning screens when MAME starts. 2- User has a full MAME ROM set or ROM+CHDs 3- Include or remove clones. 4- Remove some categories of games like majong. 5- Add more platforms to LaunchBox that use the MAME ROMS like Neo-Geo, CPS I/II/III, Cave I'm sure there are more issues that could be covered and maybe some that are more important than what I listed.
  3. SentaiBrad said SNES doesn't need BIOS files nor is the problem he is having. They only exist for certain situations. All but 1 game works with bsnes balanced as well, BIOS doesn't fix that. The bsnes core in Retroarch does need BIOS files for games that have an on cartridge co-processor such as Super Mario Kart. http://wiki.libretro.com/index.php?title=Bsnes But yeah, if other cores find the BIOS files, there must be another problem. I've never tried to set up PC-FX
  4. DOS76 does Retroarch find the BIOS needed for any the cores that need one? For example does SNES Super Mario Kart work with the bsnes-balanced core? It won't work if RetroArch can't use the BIOS pack you downloaded. Check that Settings->Directory->System/BIOS matches the directory that your BIOS are in. If you have separate configurations for each core, check that setting both before Retroarch loads a core and after you load the core that has the problem.
  5. The latest beta (5.8-beta4) doesn't improve things. It's the same as before
  6. Jason Carr said Hi @franklb, are you getting any errors showing up in the list for those ROMs? Sorry I don't really understand what you mean by the list. However I managed to narrow down the problem. The problem is the emumovies feature! 1- I did a fresh install of LaunchBox 5.7 in another folder. I imported my NES library using the default settings without configuring emumovies: every ROM was imported. 2- I did another fresh install of LaunchBox 5.7. This time I imported my NES library with default settings and I configured the emumoves support with my login and password: only 656/791 were imported.
  7. Thanks for helping me! "force importing duplicates" doesn't change anything. Still fails to import. Manually creating an entry for Super Mario Bros. 3 as you described does work. There is even artwork that must have been downloaded from thegamesdb.net while I was trying to import. No Video from emumovies though.
  8. SentaiBrad said Media doesn't get removed because if you're gonna add games back like you did, who wants to re-download all of that data? Tools -> Clean up Images at the bottom should remove excess or data not associated to any game anymore. Though it should probably get name changed to Clean Up Downloaded Material or something. Thanks I didn't know about that. How are you importing games, by Folder or by Files? I did all the imports by Folder. I tried to re-import the NES games by files to see if it would make a difference but it didn't. Also are those games still in your library just not associated to a platform? Pick a game that didn't get imported and copy it's name, open up your LaunchBox XML in Notepad++. Ctrl + F and copy paste the name of the game in to it. Does Notepad++ show you any games with that name? It there is a game that exists with that exact name in your LaunchBox XML that means it exists somewhere in LB, or when you removed games for some reason it didn't remove the entry from the LB XML and so it won't import the game because it thinks it exists. I checked what you suggested. "Super Mario Bros. 3" doesn't import. The only game in the LaunchBox.xml that matched was the GBA game "Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3". So there doesn't seem to be "orphaned" entried in the xml. Have you tried re-importing with the new Beta? There is some nicer error handling when it comes to this but if you are getting errors when searching for metadata, and LB asks you if you still want to add these games to your library, selecting yes should still add them regardless. This has happened to me before, the games just get added with no metadata. I haven't tried the Beta yet but I'll give it a try.
  9. Today I deleted all the Nintendo Entertainment Systems (NES) games from my LaunchBox library. I also deleted all NES media from the Images, Manuals, Music and Videos folders since removing games from the library doesn't delete media (?). I then imported them all again. I got the same result as previously. Only 656/791 were imported correctly.
  10. kmoney2315 said I'm curious about that as well. Last night I imported all my exodos collection to LB and used emumovies and the gamesdatabase for my art and such and there is a lot of missing art that those sites don't have. I looked in my meagre folder and noticed that it had a lot of missing artwork that I need and was wondering what was the best and easiest way of get this imported into LB? The latest MEAGRE frontend v2.5.2.3 has an option to export to launchbox. It also copies over the cover art and screenshots to launchbox. https://sites.google.com/site/meagrefrontend/download After the MEAGRE export, look here https://www.launchbox-app.com/forum/troubleshooting/old-images-folders for instructions on how to make the artwork be used by LaunchBox v5+
  11. StammesOpfer said franklb said I successfully exported all the games from both eXoDOS v2 and Win3xO using MEAGRE v2.5.2.3 that comes with Win3xO. This added over 6000 games in total to LaunchBox. These are DOS, Windows 3.x and "PC Booter" games. I used the trick here https://www.launchbox-app.com/forum/troubleshooting/old-images-folders of setting ImagesReorganizedFor5 false to get all the exported media correctly named and located. I think this post: https://www.launchbox-app.com/announcements/new-launchbox-export-in-meagre should be edited to include the procedure for LaunchBox v5+. Did that give you cover art? I would just try it but I am waiting until Win3xO is done before I try it again. There is cover art for some but not all the games. It imported the front cover art from exodos/win3xo if it exists for each game.

  13. Mike10101 said SentaiBrad said Then does the name of the system under Associated Platform match the name in the left pane of LaunchBox? Both names need to match. Yeah I've tried both ways of doing neogeo/neo geo. Even edited single games and made sure the emulator was set right etc. I'm pretty gutted it's not working :(. Superni ntendo works fine using the same methods, the only single difference about them is that snex9 is listed automatically in the associated platforms list and somehown I think I'm not adding that neo geo platform correctly. Just a guess but double check the end of the Neo Geo parameter text field that you don't completely see in your screenshot. If you copy-pasted from another row, you could have extra stuff at the end...
  14. SentaiBrad said Well if you have a Lifetime license then the limit doesn't matter, however LaunchBox still asks you if you want to keep these games, and if you hit yes they stay in your library just with no metadata. Besides the limit these sites could have been having a high load of traffic, getting DDoS attacked or your connection in your area was under load due to a lot of people being on at once. There are a lot of reasons to be getting that error. That's the thing. I hit yes to keep imported files but these still are not imported.
  15. Jason Carr said Hi @franklb, that shouldn't be happening for all ROMs unless the site is down or there's an issue with your connection. Or, if you're using EmuMovies, it's possible that the daily download limit was hit. Hi. It didn't happen for all ROMs. 656/791 were imported correctly. 135/791 had this error. I have a lifetime membership to emumovies and never hit any kind of limit before so I don't think I hit a limit. And even if I did, it would be better if the ROMs were imported with no metadata and media, than not imported at all.
  16. I'm having the same problem. It happens with other systems too for a couple ROMs but Nintendo Entertainment System is the worst. There are errors like this for 135 games. I set the import to search for local metadata and TheGamesDB.net. It's also using my emumovies login to look there for media. I attached a screenshot
  17. kmoney2315 said Ah...that was the problem as I did not choose MAME as the emulator because I chose rocketlauncher since I run all my games through it. So I did the force MAME metadata and it worked...thanks! I had the same problem. I'm converting my Hyperspin + RocketLauncher setup to LaunchBox but I'm still using RocketLauncher to decompress the 7z and launch the emulators.
