  1. alec100_94 said I've never actually looked at the mount settings in launchbox. Most games will work without additional mounts if you have the right files in the directory. And a custom dosbox.conf, with just an [Autoexec] section could be used instead. However If you explain in more detail, the problem you are having, I can probably write an updated version to address the issue. Also what game are you using that requires a mount so I can use it in my testing? Some games require a CD however. The particular game I was having trouble with is Megarace. Autoexec also seems to not work with launchbox, perhaps because the command line launchbox injects gets executed first before autoexec? I eventually had to just link to a custom batfile which mounts the CD and applies a custom configuration, rather than the application itself, bypassing the launchbox settings. Would it be possible to have your utility check for the presence of 'dosbox_svn' in any of the command line parameters, rather than insist it be the last one?
  2. Hi alec100_94, your application is useful. Unfortunately it has a major flaw, you cannot use it with Launchbox's "Mounts" settings (for instance in case you want to mount a CD). I think this is because the mounting settings become the last command line arguments that Launchbox injects, so your tool doesn't know what version of dosbox I want.
  3. You can try re-enabling it; it might have just been a fluke. Re-enabling causes the issue to return still, although the behaviour is slightly different now. It will constantly fluctuate, it will be 2 to 4% for several seconds followed by 0% for a second, then straight back again, constantly - all the same, it's non stop cpu usage still.
  4. Jason Carr said Hi Hypnotoad, that's honestly not typical. Typically what LaunchBox does in the background is prepare an image cache, and while that caching system is running, it's normal for LaunchBox to use a small amount of CPU. But if you've really only got one game, that doesn't make any sense. Try disabling the RAM cache in the options to see if that makes a difference. Awesome, that appears to have actually fixed the issue (for now), what are the disadvantages of disabling this however? Also, it's still using about 355mb of memory right now despite only one game being added, that's not huge (firefox for instance uses much more), but higher than I would like, is it normal for it to use this much?
  5. Hey there, Launchbox looks like a very nice application and I've been looking for something like this to launch/organize my game collection for a long time. Unfortunately I cannot use it right now as it is. The main issue is resource usage, particularly cpu usage. I've only added one game to the collection, and as far as I can tell gamepad usage is disabled. Nevertheless the application is constantly using CPU, between 2.5% and 10%, even when not in focus/minimized. I know it's not that high, but since I like to launch some very graphically intensive games and my cpu isn't amazing, I need all the CPU I can spare. Memory usage is also kinda high. I don't know exactly what LaunchBBox is doing when idle, that it requires constant usage of the cpu. Is there anything at all I can disable to stop it doing this? What task exactly is constantly running, is it necessary? Thanks in advance.
