I am wondering why when I started to import roms and I cancelled the import, it still imported the games automatically but with no input from me. This means I didnt get a chance to select an emulator, among other things. Is this intended? I dont understand how this could work. Does this require setting up platforms and emulators before the import? But that doesnt make sense either because it tries to import new games automatically right away before theres a chance to set things up. Im very confused on how this is supposed to work.

Duplicate ROM folders after import
UncleDaddySwiss replied to UncleDaddySwiss's topic in Troubleshooting
Thanks for the reply, I do keep my games in the Lauchbox\Games folder, and chose to keep them there during import. Is there any way to know how Launchbox wants me to name them beforehand? Right now the [platform].xml file, platform management in Launchbox, and the game edit dialog all have different paths. Which is the one I should go by? Thanks again. (I did already mass edit the [platform].xml files using Notepad++, while Launchbox was closed. -
Duplicate ROM folders after import
UncleDaddySwiss replied to UncleDaddySwiss's topic in Troubleshooting
Is it a folder naming problem? Do the game folders need to be named a certain way? -
Hi, I am resetting up my Launchbox for about the 100th time now (Was very close to selling gaming PC, but decided not to.) But now I am having a problem that I have had before, but somehow messed around with it until I got it. This time however, I would like to know why this is happening. When I import a ROM folder into Launchbox, I choose to leave the files where they are. But afterwards I find that it has created a duplicate folder, although it is named slightly differently. For example, I had my folder of Gameboy games named "Nintendo - Gameboy" in my Games folder. After the import, there was a new folder named "Nintendo Gameboy" (no dash), which was empty, and the original folder "Nintendo - Gameboy" which still had the games in it. Why does this happen? I really dont want any more folders in there than I have to, especially if they are empty. Thank you.

Hi, i was wondering if there would be/ could be an api importer for uplay and origin. There are several games in both those companies that i have but don't want to install every one of them, nor do i have space for all of them, but i would like to show them in launchbox.

Ok, I'll try it. But when I update on one computer, should I also rerun the updated setup on the other computer? Because it was working on both before the update. -

Just trying to get info here, but there seems to be quite a few posts about this where Launchbox is concerned, could it be accidentally modifying something, for instance, while updating? Why else would there be so many reports of this when starting Launchbox...OK, not a huge number, but there are some. -
Moved launch box to another computer
UncleDaddySwiss replied to delak94582's topic in Troubleshooting
Seems to be too much of a coicidence here, I ran into this problem tonight too. There are also quite a few posts about this where Launchbox is concerned. Is Launchbox inadvertently modifying something it shouldn't? Maybe when updating? -
I installed Launchbox to my Dropbox folder on my gaming PC a few weeks back, then updated to 6.9. Now when I try to open Launchbox on my laptop I get the image below. Its says to rerun setup but would that undo any of the things I've done in launchbox, or would it overwrite my Lauchbox.xml file, etc? Also, would it cause problems because it was technically installed on my gaming pc, and not on my laptop, even though I access it from both? Launchbox was working fine from both my laptop and gaming pc before I updated to 6.9. Is this normal?

Ok, I now realised that in addition to missing games, etc, All my Retroarch cores have been reset. Its like Launchbox replaced my Launchbox.xml with a default Launchbox.xml (new) without my input. Any reason why this would happen? For that matter, when/why does Launchbox.xml get changed? I notice it got changed and backed up just a few minutes ago and all I did was play a game. Oh wait, I did just go into the edit dialogue for one of my games, but that doesnt explain some of the missing things. It seems like somehow an older version of launchbox.xml became the "current" version.

Ok, now I have keyboard input, went into settings and the controller options were disabled. I HAD enabled them. somethings not right.
-
Suddenly Big Box wont respond to ANY input. No controller, and no keyboard input. Dont know what happened but the only way I can even exit is to CTRL-ALT-DEL and end task from task manager. I even restarted my computer, but still the same. On a (maybe) unrelated note, I also noticed that the Wii U system I imported over the weekend (only Mario Kart 8 so far) was gone today as well. I had to reimport. Strange things happening today. Also, I've never even heard of Plays.TV, so not installed.

I know this thread is over a year old, but I thought I would share my experience. I dont know if this is relevant to the thread, but, if there is a dosbox.exe and a dosbox.conf in the game folder, point the launcher to those files in the edit game screen but in the Dosbox tab, uncheck "Use Dosbox." I think if this is checked, it will use the Dosbox file and configurations in the Launchbox/Dosbox folder instead of the game folder. Worked for me anyway.

I have some feature requests, but have no idea where to post them.

Not a problem, sounds like it should work, then. I appreciate all the help.

Ah, that might be a problem then...Maybe I'll just go with LB DB for now then. Thanks for the info.
